I placed my order at the end of May and I am still waiting for the lenses at the beginning of JULY!!! When you contact customer service all you get is repeated assurances that the lenses have been shipped and an arbitrary date after which they say they will assume the shipment is lost. That date has not yet arrived!!! It is also like dealing with robots, absolutely no humanity whatsoever. This my second order, the first was fine but a 50% hit rate is not good enough.

Order arrived promptly, good price. However the first box of lenses I opened had two defective ones in it (not uncommon with my lens, as this has happened to me before.) The problem is, I get NO RESPONSE from customer service via email. I have yet to try phone calls, but at this point I will probably just give up. 1800contacts always responds quickly with no hassle, so I guess I will return to their service.

I ordered four boxes of contact lens on Dec. 6th. They shipped them on Dec. 7th. I received them on Dec. 9th. I saved about $50-100 then buying them from my eye care place. It was funny...I called my eye care place to see how much 4 boxes would cost and they told me $180+tax. When my eye care place got a request to authorize my order from Vision Direct the eye care place called me to offer special pricing of 4 boxes for about $140+tax. I told them they were still about 50% higher in price. That pretty much shut them up.

WARNING: This company will try to "substitute" something you did not order, and then refuse to cancel the order by email, EVEN though the email they send you notifying you of the "substitution" says to reply TO THE EMAIL within 3 days if you would rather cancel! I ordered a pair of Acuvue 2 color OPAQUES (these are the colored lenses for DARK eyes, mine are brown.) They wanted to substitute the "enhancers", which DO NOT work (as stated on the acuvue website) on dark eyes!

I bought 2 boxes of one day lenses from vision direct. They checked with my optometrist and found that my one day lenses prescription has expired. So what they did was putting in an order for me (without asking me) for biweekly lenses from their site. They sent an email saying my order which I didn't place was confirmed that that in 3 days my lenses would be shipped and credit card charged. Luckily I checked my email today and found it and called them. They argued that it's just how they do business.
Imagine if I didn't check my email, they would have charged me something that I didn't ask for at all. And they claim it's just how they do business!

I ended up ordering from brandnamecontacts.com and got a phone call and email immediatly about my rx. Six days later I am seeing perfectly and will order from brandnamecontacts.com again! I still have yet to receive my package. I contacted customer service via email, which I thought might facilitate the process rather than being tossed around on the phone. I had to email customer service a few times to keep them updated on my missing package. I had to call my post office as well to see if they had my package, which they didnt so I contacted customer service again. Customer service told me that they would forward my email to the head of their "investigation department." I think they just forwarded my email to the lead of their department, who sent me a "declaration of lost shipment" form. I just printed itout and faxed it over today, so they may "investigate" my issue further with the post office.
05/18/04 I finally got my new contacts. Be persistent with this company& all should work out.

Here's the other scam. Once you order from VD, you get emails every few months offering a 10% discount, which somehow never appears on your bill even after you enter the promo code.
Then you get a form email reply where none of the options is what you wrote to them about.
I told VD - two strikes and you're out - there's plenty of other places to order lenses.
Be careful. VisionDirect has decent prices, but they also have a scam. In my case they upgraded my order without my permission. I ordered contact lenses, but they shipped and billed me for 'moist' contact lenses, which cost $150 more than the ones I ordered.
VD claimed my prescription requires special lenses (which is ridiculous - no one requires 'moist' lenses). I have my paper prescription which does not specify anything other than 'contact lenses' and my optometrist confirmed this as ridiculous.
I called VD and requested a return but they refused to pay return shipping. When I threatened to disput the order with my credit card company, they magically re-routed the package back to their depot. But - two months later - they have still never credited my card.
The prices may look good but BE CAREFUL. Ask yourself if it's a good deal if you add $150 and a huge headache to the total.

I placed an order with VisionDirect.com about a week ago, and in compliance with the new Fairness to Contact Lens Consumers Act, faxed them a copy of my prescription and gave them my eye doctor's contact information. I received an email the next day with VisionDirect claiming that my prescription was somehow "invalid", and after a lengthy and unproductive phone conversation with customer service, found out that they were balking at my faxed prescription because the letterhead didn't look professional enough (i.e., they thought I could have forged it). I gave up with the company after this ridiculous fiasco, canceled my order with VisionDirect.com, and placed a (successful) order with CoastalContacts.com. Consumers: be wary of VisionDirect.com if your eyecare provider gives you your prescription on anything less than holographic anti-theft anti-reproduction paper (which is just about all of us).

Vision Direct had the best price on the lenses I need, and an attractive coupon offer for first-time customers as well. However, it took them three business days to ship my order and they felt compelled to charge me a mystery "processing fee." Shipping an order out the fourth business day after it was ordered (with a weekend in there, too) is pathetically slow, and offering free shipping but charging a "processing fee" is disingenuous. I wouldn't buy from them again.

My order shipped on Monday even though the e-mail said that they were not able to verify the prescription because they did not reply. I will never EVER order with them anymore!!!! I ordered blue lenses for 230 dollars ( Theatrical/Effects) and a wavepack to put the lenses in. But still no response..!! it's a very bad company I don't recommend it.. ( never again)
They hit me with the old "bait and switch". Told me they called the doctor and lenses I ordered are not for me. Auto-Switched me to another model! (the other model was cheaper, but the whole point was to get what I want, not what they are ready to sell). VisionDirect cancelled my order saying that my prescription was not valid. I faxed them my prescription like they asked and they are too incompetent to check the fax machine. When I tried to contact them back they sent me an automated email message. Some customer service! They then sent me a 10% coupon and told me I needed to reorder. Well by that time I already ordered from AC Lens and had no troubles at all. Besides that I got my lenses for less money and faster than previous orders that I had been getting from Vision Direct. Thanks Vision Direct for helping me find a better place to buy lenses.

I have never had my credit card stolen or my number after doing an online purchase... Not until I tried to do business with this company. Vision Direct's online site is Unsafe to business with. I gave my credit card information to the site and then my doctor could not be reached so it was canceled. You really need to make sure if your going to offer online business that the site is fully safe and secure. I had to cancel my card and I am now having to go through the annoying process of getting a new card and disputing charges I did not make after the number was stolen. Vision direct was the last and only recent site I did online business with and I want to make sure others don't have to go through this. It is NOT worth it.
When I first tried Vison Direct, they had a hard time getting my somewhat unusual contacts to me (and the contacts that I ordered -- tinted -- sometimes came in clear instead. Ever try to find a clear contact lens if you drop it in the sink?). And yes, like the other reviewers, they'd come in separate packages over time. So I stopped using them. But I figured I'd try them again this year, and everything was great. My 4 pairs of tinted contacts all showed up at the same time within a couple days of my order, much faster than I expected.
I noticed on the paperwork that they're now somehow affiliated with drugstore.com, so maybe that gives them the funds to buy in bulk ahead of time.
All I know is that the service is MUCH better than it it used to be, and the prices are still much better than most other internet contact lens providers and way better than your eye doctor.

Shipping time is kind of slow sometimes (on my last order I had to wait a week and a half for them just to process the order and another few days for it to arrive which I found pretty annoying)
When you try to look up previous orders to make a new one they only remember the brand you bought previously and not the prescription or size ( have to find the box somewhere....)
Their rebates and offers are annoying to redeem, not straight up offers but a lot of small print and conditions....

I have previously ordered from Vision Direct and in June 2007 apparently clicked a button that qualified me for a discount. In December 2007, I started receiving unauthorized charges on my credit card. Vision Direct gave all of my information, including credit card no., home phone and address to a company called TLG Great Fun. TLG Great Fun proceeded to charge my credit card, unauthorized for $11.99 a month. I should have caught it sooner and did not catch it until April 2008.
I have had to cancel my credit card and report this as fraud, but since I was a "willing" participant with Vision Direct, I most likely will not have my $$ refunded.
By the way, I never received a membership package from TLG Great Fun.
When I called Vision Direct, they admitted it was a partner and that they have discontinued working with them but did not recognize it was a scam. It is all over the internet now that I type in TLG Great Fun.
Very disappointed in Vision Direct. They should not sell lists or allow companies to use credit cards without authorization.

I order my prescription glasses 12 September 2008 for $200 dollars and received the confirmation that they have stock at their "warehouse" in the US, in face the glasses probably weren't even made yet as of 22 October 2008 after REPEATED assurances that it will only be another 2-4 days, it will be another 2-4 days, and so on and so forth I finally cancelled my order.... it is now the 29 October and still no credit to my credit card.
I have two other friends who ordered form here, and whilst they received their glasses, they confirm that 1.5 months was the waiting time for them too. So when you consider what you can save, consider the possibility you may wait months and never receive anything, then wait another 3 weeks to dispute the transaction with your credit card company.

I have been shopping at Visiondirect.com for many years. Unfortunately, the customer service and operations are getting steadily worse, and this will be the last time I order from them. I purchase gas permeable contact lenses. They of course need a copy of my prescription, which I FAX to them as instructed. No response. I telephone them, get a clerk who barely speaks English (not a foreigner, just a Gen Y loser) and she says "we didn't get it". She gives me another, DIFFERENT FAX number. I send it again. No response. I telephone them again a couple days later, they grudgingly acknowledge that they've received the FAX and the order is "in process". This company sends NO confirmations of anything, NO indications that an order documentation is complete, no indication that it will be shipped or ANYTHING. This was acceptable five years ago. This kind of lame customer service is NO LONGER the standard.
I ordered contacts from vision direct for the first time and the LAST time. I followed up a week 1/2 after my order due to no response from them and they advised that my contacts were being sent to them within the next 1-3 business days and they will then be mailed to me. After another week I called again, same response. Today I called them AGAIN and now my contacts are on back order and need to be re-ordered. It has been a month since my order. I learned my lesson. I will never recommend this site nor will I EVER use them again. On top of that they customer service people were rude and obviously lied to me about my ordered being mailed to them in the first week.
It took these people so long to contact my eye doctor that my prescritiption expired. they may have good prices but you get what you pay for. I did not hear from them for one week after the fact. First they tell me the order was confirmed and then they said they could not fill it because it was expired, It did not matter that I had put in the request several days prior to the prescription expiring.

I placed the order online on June six and by June seventeen it didn?t arrive yet. I was told on Monday the fifteen that it?s on route and arrived to Gaithersburg and that it should arrive by Wednesday as I need to allow 3-6 business days. On Wednesday they said I need to allow 6-10 business days.
I?m traveling soon outside the US, and need my contacts for the trip and very disappointed with Vision Direct handling.
There is contradiction between the online and information that representative give on phone. The agreement that you have with usps leaves the customer stuck in the middle. I can?t even receive an address to pick up my contacts which are in the near city. Or cancel the order and get my money back.

They lost the info on my previous order and had no record of it.I had to re-fax my prescription, then they didn't have it. They sent the wrong prescription even though I carefully placed my order online. Their computer records are not good. I was told by customer service to mail the wrong order back and that I would receive a credit on my charge card for both the wrong order and for the cost of my shipping it back. When I sent the contacts back, I called to verify the credit and was told I would only receive crdit for the original invoice charge. The customer service said there was nothing in the record that I would recive credit for shipping charges to return the lens. Their system seems to have flaws. I use Vision Direct because their prices are less then 1-800 Contacts, but everytime I place an order, it takes Vision Direct at least one week to fill the order, so I get my contact lenses about 10 days after the order is placed. I may just go back to 1-800 Contacts and pay the couple extra dollars to receive my contact lenses in a timely manner. Read more

I found Vision Direct to be mediocre. My contact lens order was filled without my eye doctor's confirmation, which resulted in an incorrect prescription. My own mistake of not checking the order resulted in opening two boxes that I was unable to get a full refund on. I was told different things in regards to the refund by different representatives and was not told that the refund would be in the form of a credit. So in the end, I actually paid more for the lenses than I would have if I would have gotten them through my own doctor. I certainly don't think they were completely at fault, but when companies aren't totally up front about how they run things, I find it less than admirable. Read more

It's imposible to receive any rebate from Acuvue. They made unworkable Electronic Rebate Form - you cannot chose anything from drop-off lists exept few first pozition. Then you have to provide twice Doctor's info and all receipts. I had 2 bad experiances already with this brand.

The only thing that I was disatisfied with is that both when you order and receive your contacts they are not labled as either for the right or left eye. I had to look back at a previous order from another company to see what the prescription is and which ones were for which eye. It may be standard that the top line is for the right eye and bottom is for the left, but most people won't know that and that still doesn't help when you receive your contacts unlabled. Read more
