The (somewhat sparse) details ...
I am a 31 year old married female with 3 cats and a 2 year old daughter. I am a professional piano teacher by trade, an author by necessity, and a web designer for fun (and pin money! I actually earn income from designing web sites. It's the new milennium, baby, and women can do anything). Even with all of these entrapments of normalcy, however, I am anything but. Trust me on that one.
I have an ongoing love/hate relationship with this place. Disillusioned talks a little bit more about the things that I felt when I initially joined epinions, and conveys some of the passion I feel about being here. Research Before Crying Foul talks a little about some of my frustration with labelling people abusers, and gives some ideas to help avoid false accusations. You have a mouth, so scream! is my epinion on "things not to do when writing a review," and was inspired by a horrific computer crash wherein I lost my best work ever.
(Really, I did. I know this is sort of like the fish that got away -- but it's really true. Really!)
The eloquent ending ...
I'm trying desperately to get beyond the politics of the whole thing -- to care about what I review and what I write -- regardless of the money or the recommendations I get. (It's easy for me to get caught up in a "worth" struggle. I feel like I'm better if I'm well-read or well-rated; worse if I'm struggling along. This is just asinine. I'm the same person, regardless.)
Ultimately, I really like having a voice, and epinions has helped me to have confidence in mine. So I think I'll be around for a long while to come.
