The secret to getting 400+ hits on each of your reviews!
Mar 08 '00 (Updated Apr 21 '00)
Do you want to get well over 400 hits on each of your reviews? Follow these simple steps and you'll be well on your way to retiring on your e-royalties!
1) Start with a provocative title for your review.... something like: "The secret to getting 400+ hits on each of your reviews!" This will get all the money grubbers in the Epinions community to click on your review to find out your "secret." Believe me, these are the same people that respond to ads in the paper or emails that say "Earn thousands of dollars a week working at home watching TV!!"
2) Draw your reader in with an enticing first sentence or two.... something like: "Do you want to get well over 400 hits on each of your reviews? Follow these simple steps and you'll be well on your way to retiring on your e-royalties!" You see, the title of your review may catch someone's eye, but it's the lead-in paragraph that draws them into clicking on your review. So don't give away your secrets or conclusions in the first sentence! Otherwise, they don't have to click through to read your opinion.
3) Write a well organized review.... it's a good idea to use numbers to list all of the reasons why something is good or bad, pretty much like I'm doing right now! Also make sure your paragraphs aren't too long. #2 above is a bit long.
4) Write a controversial review.... it needs to be something that appeals to the masses' interests, but ends up pressing some emotional buttons, kind of like this review. More than likely, you clicked on this review to find out how to earn more money on Epinions (which is something you're highly interested in and possibly emotional about). Instead, you were delivered a ridiculous review that over-promises and under-delivers. You might be angry right now. You might be laughing your rear-end off right now (hopefully). The point is, I will laugh if I generate 400+ hits from this stupid review that unfortunately appeals to all those people that simply see Epinions as a place to earn money (or possibly as a place that makes them feel good about themselves for getting lots of hits).
Quite honestly, the only way to get hundreds of hits on any given review is to write very well. It certainly helps to be one of the first to cover a certain product, service or category. And it definitely doesn't hurt to organize your review in such a way that it's both pleasing to the eye and easy to read quickly (something I fail to do). Most of all, have something to say and be prepared to back it up with useful information.
Sorry if you've taken any of this seriously... it was meant to be a mockery of the money grubbers!
