I am Erin McCarty. I've been writing reviews for Epinions for eight years now and can't get enough of it. I'm not generally much of a talker, but meet me in my reviews and you'll find that I have a lot more to say when I'm typing!

My user name is a reference to Bilbo Baggins and Winnie-the-Pooh, two of my very favorite literary characters. Other fictional worlds I love to inhabit include those of Narnia, the Harry Potter series, Smallville, Star Trek and LOST, to name a few. I love creatively engaging my favorite fiction by writing poetry and song parodies.
In addition to being a bookworm and a movie / television buff, I love classic rock and oldies, especially John Denver, Simon and Garfunkel, the Irish Rovers and Peter Paul and Mary. Thanks to American Idol, I've also made room in my CD rotation for Clay Aiken.
Turtledoves, a poem that I wrote, has been included in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Love Stories. It was inspired by Bob Scarpitti, whose father founded my church in 1922, and his wife, Marge. Sadly, she died shortly after I wrote the poem in 2002, but I will always remember their abiding love for each other and the way they held hands wherever they went.
Little Pine Valley - where my background picture was taken - is one of my favorite places on Earth. I like it so much, I wrote a book about it. That book - The Land That Gives and Takes Away - is up for perusal and purchase here.
If you like my writing, check it out. If you really like my writing, buy a copy! I'd be ever so grateful.
"Even youths grow tired and weary and young men stumble and fall. But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." - Isaiah 40:30-31
"You are a fine person, Mr. Baggins, and I am very fond of you; but you are only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all!"
- Gandalf, The Hobbit (J. R. R. Tolkien)
"I won't blast people out of my way just because they're there. That's Voldemort's job." - Harry Potter (J. K. Rowling)
"Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside a dog, it's too dark to read." - Groucho Marx
"As we count our blessings, I take a moment to pray to God to ask Jesus to tell Santa, if there's one thing I want, it's to say, 'Thank you. Thank you, thank you.'
Or a squirrel monkey." - Kevin Kling
I just can't get enough of Christmas, so here are a whole bunch of Christmas-themed reviews, with some Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and winter sprinkled in.
