Pleased As A Pea In A Pod!

Peapod is a grocery delivery service. At first I didn't pay much attention to their ads--having my groceries delivered seemed out of my league, something the more wealthy folks would do, not something for this "ordinary" person. Then I received a "$25 off your first order" coupon in the mail. The coupon also stated that delivery was free for orders over $60 (otherwise it was $7.50). I figured it was worth a shot to get $60 worth of groceries for $35.
I was very pleased. I made my list, asked my husband to take my son and leave me alone for an hour so I could "shop" online. I enjoyed the whole process!! You could shop "aisle by aisle" (more like category by category), or, using the search feature, item by item. I especially liked seeing the unit price on each page--that made it a lot easier to compare prices than standing in front of the grocery shelves dodging carts and people and trying to figure it all out. If you click on an item it brings up the nutrition fact chart and ingredients list. Another great feature is the running total--this way you can see precisely how much you're spending before you check out. That, coupled with the lessened chance of "impulse buying" helps if you are on a strict budget.
You can add things to your "personal shopping list". This will then save you the trouble of searching for the same items each time you place an order. Peapod will also save your shopping cart for you if you have to log out before you are ready to place your order. You can also change your order up until midnight of the day before your scheduled delivery. You can schedule your delivery for your own convenience, although I believe they have deliveries in certain areas on certain days. The delivery times are in 2 hour increments.
I have only dealt with customer service one time and that was when some eggs arrived broken. I emailed them that night and within two days I had a response and a credit.
Some of the cons of shopping online is that they may not have all the brands you are looking for on certain items. They also have a "standard substitution policy". This is fine, however what they would sub with and what you would sub with may be two totally different things. They do accept coupons, however you will not get credited until your next order. Also, if the store that delivers isn't your local store you may need a different flyer to find out the sale items, as they may not be the same (this is the case where I live).
I shop online about every 3 weeks or so. It has been a welcome change from shopping with a child in tow, or having to lug heavy grocery bags, or having to go out in inclement weather.....
