Pros: Incredibly Friendly Locals and Vistas that you will never forget.... Cons: Expensive....Anything not made or grown in Hawaii is double the price of the mainland.
Two weeks on Kauai and in the first two hours I was there I started trying to figure out a way to stay! The drive from Lihue Airport to Princeville was about 45 minutes and what a beautiful ride it was. Nose pressed against the window like a puppies...

Pros: Amazing experience! Cons: Expensive
Review Topic: Sights & Attractions
I recently spent four days on Kauai's north shore and loved every minute of it. One of the best things we did on our trip was take a helicopter tour of the island. It is pricey, about $150...

Pros: Beautiful scenery, quaint & cozy feeling of island life is everywhere Cons: A little expensive
Don't go to Kaui if you're dying for some nightlife, it's not your kind of island. However, if you prefer to be alone/with your love or with an intimate group of friends, listening to Jimmy Buffet or Bob Marley, sipping blue hawiians, then go on over....

Pros: The most beautiful place in the world Cons: Heart in your throat
In 1998 I had the experience of a lifetime when I hiked the 11-mile Kalalau trail (18 kilometers). I had the great fortune to hike the trail with a kama'aina (resident of Hawaii) who had been hiking the trail every year for over 10 years.
I...

Pros: Beautiful scenery, flowers, gardens Cons: None
My first visit to Kauai, Hawaii was in Nov/Dec and it was a beautiful time to go to a beautiful place! We ventured there as part of an American-Hawaii cruise, so we didn't stay at hotels, but rather docked and stayed on the ship.
Kauai is the...

Pros: great setting; snorkeling; relaxed atmosphere Cons: limited nightlife
I have visited Hanalei Colony Resort (HCR) on several occasions because my parents own a condo there. For those who wish to experience Hawaii the way it was decades ago, this is the place to stay on the island.
HCR is on the north side of the...

Pros: average weather is 75 degrees and sunny all year long and so much more Cons: none, none, none
The amount of movies made on Kauai is amazing - not to mention TV shows and commercials! Kauai has the perfect combination of green plains, large valleys, long, perfect beaches, incredible coastlines, and local towns and villages to have something for...

Pros: Variety of accommodations Cons: Lots of packing and unpacking!
Just got back from my first trip to Kauai on 6/2/2000. Since this was partially a working trip, we had to move around to be near work sites. Consequently, we had 3 different accommodations for a six-day trip! But since this was also a "fun"...

Pros: Everything Cons: None
Being Hawaiian, I, of course, love everything about the culture and all of the islands but Kauai is the most romantic in my opinion. If you're not in love when you get there, you will be by the time you leave. It is the island of romance, very quaint...

Pros: Inexpensive, only takes 90 min. Will probably be beautiful in the future Cons: not beautiful now, thanks to hurricane. CROWDED!
The site:
The Fern Grotto is a cave whose entry is purportedly totally draped with ferns, some of which are supposed to be about 40 feet long. You may either kayak or take the flat-bottomed boat up the Wailua River (on the east side of the island)...

Pros: beauty, geography, relaxing Cons: limited restaurant selection, things to do at night
I've visited Kauai several times, with trips ranging from just over a week to a month long. And from all I've seen and heard of Hawaii, Kauai is the most beautiful of all the islands. Countless friends and past visitors have fallen in love with it. ...

Pros: Varied landscapes, mostly undeveloped, friendly Cons: None that we found
If night life, shopping malls, and laying around the pool while sipping fruity drinks are your idea of a great Hawaiian vacation, head to any island at all; but if you want a REALLY active outdoor experience, you'd have a tough time beating Kauai. ...

Pros: Excellent service; spacious rooms; great food; full-service spa Cons: rocky beach
Hyatt Points were used to book two adjoining double rooms at the Hyatt Regency Kaua'i Resort & Spa last March. The trip, my twelfth to the Hawaiian islands, was one of the best tropical vacations I've ever had.
Located on the southern...

Pros: beautiful, excellent snorkeling, reasonably priced accommodations, fabulous sunsets, romantic, rainbows Cons: expensive food, expensive restaurants, little night life
This island is one of our top vacation choices. We stay on the Poipu side of the island, where the climate is warm and more desert-like than the north end. We usually rent a condominium from R&R Rentals. They specialize in reasonably priced...

Pros: Magnificent views, still unspoiled areas Cons: Eventual oahu-ization
If I could choose a place to spend my final days, it would be Hanalei, the end of the world at the north end of Kauai. The beaches were wonderful, the life laid back, and the crowds seemed to be elsewhere. It's Bali Hai and beyond.
We stayed...
