I went on the Holiday ship this last May 2000 from Friday to Monday. This was a 3 day cruise that went down to Mexico and and to Los Angeles. We left Los Angeles around 5:00 p.m. and returned around 8:00 a.m. on Monday.
Pros: plenty to do, all you can eat, reasonable price Cons: room service a little slow
i went on a 4 day 3 night cruise to Mexico on Carnival Holiday and i had the best time. There were plenty to do on the boat including, shows, casino, swimming pool, clubs, and 24 hours all you can eat. You can get room service 24 hours the whole time...
Pros: Great Staff. Food was par for the course. Rooms are larger than most. Cons: Old, roof water leaks to multiple floors. Engine vibration and noise like no other!
Cruise Date March 6th, 2008 - Mobile, Alabama to Cozumel We (11 of us) were picked up at the airport by the "Cruise Shuttle" (not free but guaranteed we would get on the boat if we were late) Shuttle was great. We get to the terminal - to find about ...
Wouldn't Recommend Carnival Holiday by peaches14323 ,Sep 17 '07
Pros: Friendly staff, service Cons: Smelly ship, vibration/motion, tiny pools
My boyfriend & I went on a cruise on Carnival's boat, Holiday. The staff was all great; very friendly & fun! We were shocked to see how small the 2 pools were and the one in the back of the ship had water splashing back & forth and out constantly because the ship rocks so much. I don't ever get motion sickness, but I got it on this boat. You can also feel the vibration of the engines everywhere on the boat, constantly. We had the very back room on the lowest level, which I would NEVER recommend to anyone...it was terrible! I was so ready to get off that ship by the end of the trip. The whole boat inside (especially the tiny elevators) smelled HORRIBLE! The decor is very outdated. I would definitely recommend sailing on a newer boat!! I know we will next time!
The vacation was inexpensive and great dining experiences.
Cons: The staff are thieves and will rob you blind! The ship was very outdated.
I can't begin to tell you how horrific my cruise on Carnival's Holiday was. This was my first cruise and definitely my LAST cruise with Carnival! My steward heavily encouraged my to put my luggage out the night before we arrived back in Mobile. The next morning, we disembarked, I picked up my luggage, went through customs and drove home to Montgomery. As soon as I got home, I opened my bags to find that I had been robbed. They (cruise staff) had picked through my bag and took over $3000 worth of clothes. I have called and called and still have not been able to get a response from the cruise ship. They keep telling me they have sent in my claim and are waiting on the cruise ship to conduct an investigation. I just want everyone to know that you CANNOT trust their staff. I feel violated and will do whatever it takes to get my clothes back.
A great time, for a small price by mydaytona ,Jan 21 '07
Pros: Fantastic staff, great value Cons: Small ship, A little outdated
This was our first cruise; the boat was small compared to others, but the staff more than made up for it.
It's almost impossible to have a bad time.
The staff was awesome, they go the extra mile, always happy and up beat, it seems like they truly enjoy what they do.
We just booked another cruise in March, I have no plans for any land based vacation in the near future, and this is the best way to go.
Pros: I can not think of any. Cons: Old. Dingy. Out-of-date. Ugly.
Upon arriving for my New Year's cruise to Cozumel, I was informed of an itinerary change to a cruise to nowhere due to engine difficulties. I decided to go ahead and go, because of my past experiences with cruising, I still thought it would be fun to be on a ship for four days. Boy was I wrong. The Holiday is a run down, dingy, old, small ship that is nothing like I was expecting. Before we could leave port, I changed my mind and decided not to go. I later found out this is Carnival's oldest and smallest ship, and it certainly shows. Carnival, please decommission this ship now. My only advice to anyone who's thinking about sailing on this ship - DON'T DO IT. Pay more for something better. You won't regret it.
Pros: Wonderful cruise for families and fun loving people. Great price to cruise see Mexico Cons: A few minor problems that you would come across with any Cruise line.
We took a Carnival Cruise with our kids (4) from Los Angeles to several Mexico ports of call. It was a wonderful experience. All our kids (ages: 15, 13, 10, 7) all had a wonderful time. They almost preferred it to our Disney World vacation. Taking your kids has pros and cons but this ship (was not Holiday ship but another whose name I cannot recall), as I believe most Carnival ships, are geared more towards families. We had great ports of call of Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta, and Cabo San Lucas. It was non-stop fun and action on and off the ship. You can be daring and go out on excursion by your own arrangement (what we did) or the ship can make arrangements for you. All the features of a Cruise were there. Best part was the value (cheap) we got. We had a one week cruise.
A Little Holiday Vacation by JGroetsch ,Jun 03 '05
Pros: Nice people, Nice boat, Nice places Cons: Smaller than some
If you have never taken a cruise, this is a good starter. It is not small, but it is not huge. It is the perfect time for a first time cruiser.
The ship is nice and has good entertainment. The people on the ship also make your stay much more appealing. It is a great way to take a trip and leave everything behind.
As I said, if you have never been on a cruise, start with this one. It only lasts a few days and the ship is not as overwhelming as others can be.
I will warn you though, if you have been on much bigger cruises, I would recommend those over this one. This one is a step down.
July 4th cruise on Holiday by rockcodypeb ,Jul 09 '06
Pros: Staff and crew. Visit Xcaret. Catamaran snorkel/beach excursion in Cozumel is very good. Cons: This is a tired ship that is dated/worn from many years of cruising.
First cruise. We knew Holiday was a small ship by today's industry standards and Carnival's oldest ship. The ship's interior looks like a dated Holiday Inn. Interior is old and tired. Despite this, everything was clean and the crew/staff were genuinely enthusiastic and service oriented. We departed and arrived at scheduled destinations on time. Days at sea were o.k., but the ship does has a constant rolling motion, albeit slight (wear your scopalamine patch). Food was good, entertainment good, pools fair, casino fair, staterooms comfortable. The pier/docks in Cozumel are still badly damaged from Hurricane Wilma so we had to be shuttled from the ship via tender (basically a small shuttle boat). Upon return to the ship, we had to stand in a long security line on a lower, very hot deck...many upset passengers.
Shore excursions were good. I'd especially recommend visiting Xcaret park in Playa del Carmen. Outstanding...highlight of the cruise.
Alabama Cruise Terminal is well run and efficient. We were through customs and on our way home in less than 30 minutes.
Pros: Atmosphere, crew, food and entertainment were wonderful. Cons: Size of ship, too much rocking on the waves.
The cruise was great for the price. Satisfied although we would not make the same trip again. The ship is very small and does tend to rock and shift alot on the waves. The cruise itself was rough although we had a great time with wonderful destinations, crew, dining experience and overall loads of fun. If you are on a tight budget this is a great starter cruise. Also wonderful for families with children loads of activities geared to the children's ages.
Pros: The staff was very friendly. Excellent vacation experience. Cons: I couldn't get a coke before 8:30am
My husband and I just traveled on the Holiday and had an absolutely wonderful time. The ship was very nice considering it's age. The ship was clean and our room was spotless. The food was good, I wasn't used to eating some of the things they served but everything I tried was good. The staff was very friendly, they went out of their way to make us happy. We will travel on the Holiday again in the future.
Pros: Friendliness of everyone Cons: The ship was rocky because of the rough seas
The best time ever. I love this cruise. We took the 4 day cruise from Mobile to Cozumel. The service was excellent. The rooms were great...the food was oh so fantastic...Loved the atmosphere of the seven seas dining room.
We were returning from Mexico when Katrina hit the Gulf. We had to spend an extra dat at sea. The captain, Vito was great and concerned about our safety.
Carnival docked in Tampa, FL, and gave each person a $150 check to cover expenses of getting home.
We took this cruise for our honeymoon..we met so many new friends..enjoyed all the activities on board, and MExico..even though our shore excursions were cancelled.
We love you Ronaldo (Kissy Kissy), Kevin, Steve (cruise director), Roy (our cabin Steward), Iwayan and Fernando (our waiters), chef Orville, Damir our MiatreD...Clive the steel pan guy...
Pros: price, staff, location of port Cons: decor of ship
My friend and I decided to do a "girl trip". What a great choice. The Mobile port was convenient for us. The check in was a little slow, but we ended up getting a oceanview room upgrade. We only paid for an interior stateroom! The room was small, but ok. The beds were very comfortable. Dinner was wonderful. The only complaint about the food was the dessert at lunch. We always chose to eat ice cream! Our steward and waiter was awesome! Actually the whole staff couldn't have been nicer. We had an absolute wonderful time. Everything was well organized and excursions days went smooth. We choice to carry our own luggage off. I would recommend that! We got off the ship and through customs in about 15 minutes. The best vacation I have ever been on. I highly recommend the Holiday!
Good job under tough circumstances by lplotz ,Feb 18 '05
Pros: Food & Service Cons: Shows need improving
We just returned from the Jan 3 cruise (Key West revised back to Cozemel).
Our group of 35 were completely satisfied with this cruise and the effort
Carnival made to continue to operate and provide for inconviences
encountered. We'll definitely be returning for future cruising with
Carnival...Well Done, Lou&Evelyn
