This has been the worst experience with any product I have purchased in my life. Let me start off with the troubles of this TV, and then I will move on to customer service. 1) Very, Very, poor black levels. So poor that when watching a letterbox movie, ...
Pros: Worked great for 2 1/2 years. Cons: It breaks after 2 1/2 years
Unbelievable!! After 2 1/2 years my Zenith goes to the repair shop for the now famous blue haze caused by the defective light engine. 1st estimate 1200. 6 weeks later, no Zenith and a new estimate of 1600. Now I'm mad and I find out that nearly all the Zenith models like this one have this problem. Obviously an item which should be recalled! Their sending it back unfixed. Zenith's customer service center promises to get back to us in 24 hours. 24 hours later they promise a response in 48 hours. 48 hours later a response is promised in 3-5 days, (I'm not kidding). So far, I might as well be complaining to my cat.
Pros: IT HAD A GREAT PICTURE FOR THE FIRST YEAR. Cons: TELEVISIONS THAT YOU PAY THIS MUCH FOR, SHOULD LAST LONGER THAN A YEAR.
WE PURCHASED THIS TV A YEAR AGO, AND REALLY LOVED IT. THE PICTURE LOOKED GREAT. HOWEVER, THE SCREEN STARTED DEVELOPING A BLUE SPOT IN ONE CORNER. OVER THE LAST MONTH, IT HAS CONTINUED TO TURN BLUE ALL AROUND THE SCREEN AND IS SPREADING AND EVENTUALLY WILL TURN THE ENTIRE SCREEN BLUE. WE HAVE CONTACTED ZENITH AND WERE TOLD THAT THEY WERE SORRY FOR THIS BUT THAT IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I HAVE SINCE FOUND THAT YOU CAN'T GET THE PARTS TO FIX THIS. WE PAID ALOT OF MONEY FOR THIS TV, AND IT LASTED A YEAR. I HAVE READ OTHER REVIEWS, AND WE HAVE ALL BASICALLY HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS. IT SOUNDS LIKE A DEFECT THAT WOULD BE RECALLED.
I will never purchase another Zenith/LG product again and would advise others to follow suit. Basically, this company are crooks! They are happy to take your money for products that they know will fail in a short period of time. We purchased the D60WLCD model for $4,000 a little over 4 years ago and now it has the classic bad light engine. After several phone calls and emails to Zenith, we were told they were unable to do anything for us. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! $1,000 per year for a television. I am curious about how they justify such a premium!
A terrible TV and an irresponsible company by ParagonWP ,Dec 22 '05
Pros: It worked better with our cable feed than the Mitsubishi did. Cons: Flawed design and incredible repair costs, with no company support.
LG Electronics (the old Lucky Goldstar) now makes Zenith. We bought this TV and toward the end of the first warranty period we had a huge yellow spot in the middle of the TV. After 3-4 months of stalling and promising repairs, we insisted that they send us a new TV, which they did. They lied and said that the new TV would be covered for another one-year warranty, and we were then later unable to buy the extended warranty. After having the second TV for less than 18 months, we are now getting a blue spot on the screen. The repairman said that LG charges $3,000 for a new color engine, plus the cost of installation!! We paid $4,500 for this TV less than three years ago, and LG Electronics is real sorry that they can't help us. They're treating it like one of their old toasters or radios: a throw-away item. We can't repair it, we can't sell it. We can't warn you strongly enough to steer clear of this TV and LG Electronics in general. If you search for other review sites, you'll find many, many people who have had the same problem.
Never again will i buy a zenith/LG by grunthunter8 ,Jan 21 '06
Pros: Great while it lasted....that is if you like replacing it every couple of months/years Cons: looks like the junker for it now!!
The tv was fine for the first 6month then it developed green spots. Zenith replaced it. 1.5yrs into the second tv it has developed blue spots/waves of color. Repair cost $3000 tv purchase cost $3800 NOT WORTH REPAIRING!! How can they say that its not defective when so many people have had trouble with this tv.
