Pros: Effective, Great price, True Hepa, ENERGY STAR Qualified, Covers large area. Cons: Not really any. Filter replacement is necessary but not overly expensive.
After spending hours on the internet researching different Air Purifier technologies, brands, and product specifications I finally found what I was looking for. The Whirlpool Whispure 510 Air Purifier. When I started my research I realized that I ...
Pros:Efficient; handsome; lightweight; quiet; good controls; reasonably priced; nice features. Cons:None, except unit delivered with missing foot.
After about 11 years of use, my Friedreich air cleaner needed to be replaced. Originally costing more than $400., I was not sure that I wanted to invest that much money into another air purifier, so I did some research and found the Whirlpool Whispure ...
Pros: Pure fresh air with whisper quiet operation Cons: Wish I had more !
Pure fresh air with whisper quiet operation is what I was promised by Whirlpool and that's exactly what I got. Our 7 year old two story home was extremely dusty from the day we moved in a couple of years ago. With 2400 sq. feet to clean, three kids, ...
Pros: Excellent conventional HEPA filter; it's not silent but probably as quiet as you'll find Cons: I wish it were quieter still, but perhaps this wish isn't realistic
I started running HEPA filters on the advice of an allergist, since I suffer from hayfever. My goal was to find an effective unit that would be as quiet as possible. There are many competing designs, both for individual rooms or an entire structure, but ...
Pros: True HEPA filter, works very well, fairly quiet on low setting. Cons: It's kind of big and plain looking, louder than I'd like, expensive filters.
I spent way too many hours researching this at work. We live in an older house surrounded by beautiful flowering plants. Between the dust and the pollen, my wife oftentimes had problems with her allergies. I won't lie, I was immediately drawn ...
Pros: Easy to operate, easy to change filters. Cons: Doesn't come on rollers or casters.
I am very pleased with the Whirlpool Whispure Air Purifier. The fan's low speed is fairly quiet for sleep and the high speed is no louder than a regular fan. I spent a great deal of time investigating air purifiers at appliance stores, on line, ...
It can change the quality of your life by thehappyone ,May 04 '05
Pros: It truly does what it says! Cons: My teenager would like her own!
I do not have allergies, but wasn't feeling the best when I'd wake up in the morning (a bit stuffy, slight headaches, etc.) I read articles about the importance of clean air and decided to purchase an air purifier. I researched on the net various brands/models/ pros and cons (especially cons as of late) to the ionic systems and decided to go with the Whispure 510. I was not expecting miracles, but can truly say that after the first night with it on, I woke more refreshed and the stuffiness, etc. has been eliminated! As the commercial says about MasterCard "That's priceless!"
Whirlpool 510 Air Purifier Filter 4396949 by feedback3000 ,Oct 05 '06
Pros: Charcoal Filter worked great for Odors Cons: Replacement Charcoal Filter Obsolete
Beware, if you purchased this unit and the optional Charcoal filter 4396949! The charcoal filter was an option that replaces the large HEPA filter. The charcoal filter worked great to filter out things like cat box odor. Oct06 tried to order replacement charcoal filter 4396949. Whirlpool direct says filter is obsolete and no replacement. First line (1-800-263-1301) folks kept saying the replacement is the thin prefilter, it is not. Escalated to Customer Service. Customer Service said: Only option is the original HEPA filter and charcoal prefilter. Without the large Charcoal (4396949) filter the Purifier serves no value. Reference http://www.air-purifier-power.com/whirlpool-ap51030r.html for more info on filter types.
Customer Service would not refund the purchase price of the original Whirlpool AP510 purchase. As all too often the case a great product is diminished by cost savings cuts (probably due to charcoal filter sales volume) and poor customer service. Whirlpool is now on my never buy from list, which now consist of "one" OEM.
Removed the smoke from our basement by sxn179 ,Dec 18 '06
Pros: Works better than expected!! Cons: its larger than i thought.
We live in a 30 year old town house. Our neighbors to the right are great, but they all smoke like its going out of fashion. The house being old it must have cracks the have cigarette smoke come into our house. The smoke would get into the blower and then the entire house would smell like smoke. We needed something to get rid of it!! I bought all sorts of filters for the house fan with no luck. This unit works!! I'd say the room is about 20 x 15 and opens up into another room with about 8 ft ceiling.
Quiet and Effective - now I can sleep by maryathome ,Mar 12 '07
Pros: Quiet, effective, energy efficient. Cons: I have only one.
Every Spring, beginning in March, I suffer from allergies that cause me to sneeze, cough, and choke so badly I can't sleep lying down. Last year, I had a Honeywell tower HEPA air purifier. It was effective at removing allergens; however, it was so noisy, I couldn't sleep. So, I did some research and, one week ago, I bought the Whirlpool Whispure 510 at Best Buy. I have slept like a baby every night since. On low speed it is still effective at cleaning the air and is also quiet enough that it does not disturb my sleep.
And a bit of advice if you're looking for a quiet machine: consider not just how loud it is (decibels), but the "quality" of the noise. If it's a high pitch whine, rattles, pulsates, or makes any irregular sounds, it doesn't matter how quiet it is, it's intolerable. I found the sound of the Whirlpool Whispure to be very pleasant and soothing.
Whirlpool 510 is a great purifier by crazycanuck2 ,Aug 09 '06
Pros: Works great with Cat Dander. Quiet in low mode for sleep Cons: None yet (after 4 months). I guess having to buy filters.
I have a small NYC apartment with 3 cats. My boyfriend has minor asthma but has a problem if he spends too much time at my place - he can't breathe properly due to the cat dander / hair. First I tried an Sharper Image Ionic Breeze but that was no help - it has been sold. Then I bought this one and it works great! Problem solved. My boyfriend noticed a difference within 30 minutes of turning it on in Turbo mode. The intermediate and low modes are quiet enough for sleeping - white noise. I'm going to buy a second one so that I no longer have to carry it between my living room and bedroom when he comes over. I highly recommend it.
Pros: Seems to really move air. Good quality for the price. Good removal of smoke. Cons: Cost of replacing filters. Size is a bit big.
We live in a house that is a rental property. The upper levels of the house are split into two as a duplex. The basement has an efficiency apartment. We didn't pay attention when we moved in that smoking was permitted in the house. Tenants who smoke heavily moved into the basement and the smoke went straight through the ducts into our apartment. It was incredibly bad and the landlords were unresponsive. We bought the WW 510 after seeing it had high ratings in CR. We were hoping it would be strong enough to cover our whole apartment. Our downstairs kitchen, living room and dining room are about 510 sq ft. It does well taking care of all those rooms. The air flow is excellent. It is not loud. It has four speed settings, which we appreciate. Only problem is that the speed button got stuck on low and we couldn't find out why. Eventually I popped off the front of the purifier and the speed became changeable again. It is a little big. Overall, a good air purifier. Truly a best buy.
Noticed a difference right away by alcarrie ,Mar 27 '06
Pros: effective, quiet Cons: expensive filters, also the filters were not available where we bought the unit.
We have two cats and alot of never-ending dust in our townhouse. My husband was waking up sneezing one too many times and so I suggested we get an air purifier. We work at a University and so I asked an Environmental Safety guy at our institution which one he recommended. He recommended the Whirlpool Whispure 510. We love it. The very first day we brought it home we put it in the bedroom and turned it on high for about three hours and then when we went to bed we turned it to low. Wow! What a difference! You could really tell that the air smelled and just "felt" cleaner. No more sneezing at night. And, oddly enough, the cats love it too...they just sit on the bed in front of it...breathing. I know that sounds weird but it's true.
Quiet and Effective! Even with 5 cats and a dog by ldona24 ,Jan 13 '07
Pros: Very effective yet very quiet...a winning combination! Cons: We need to buy another so we don't have to go without when company comes.
We live in Maine, we have always heated primarily with wood, we have always had multiple cats and a dog, and as a consequence, we have always used air purifiers. Back in the day, they were huge round things that sounded like small planes warming up for take off. Over the years they have become quieter but could still be heard downstairs if they were running on high upstairs. The Whirlpool Whispure 510 truly lives up to its name. You can hardly hear it on low and it becomes gentle white noise on high. From downstairs, we don't even know it is running no matter what the speed. It is light and easily moved from room to room. Best of all, it is truly effective, even with our crew putting it to the test, we are both sleeping better. Have not yet had to buy filters but have read in other reviews that they are expensive. When that time comes, I will try to keep in mind how much it is worth to me to sleep well at night.
