Pros: Pros: Great color saturation, good sound, good blacks, nice design. Cons: SCREEN DOOR EFFECT, FUZZY/CRAWLING TEXT, PIXELATION DURING MOTION
I recently purchased this set after reading hundreds of reviews and comparing several TV's side by side. After two weeks of watching, I'm quite disappointed. I'm sure hoping that all of the anomalies this set displays is a function of my cable feed or ...
Pros: Amazing HD, Great SD, skip inputs you don't want to use, design of the TV. Cons: Price, can't skip the cable input
Let me start off by saying the HD picture on this TV is absolutley amazing. A lot better than any DLP or flatscreen LCD I've seen. The LCD screen really makes this projection tv stand out from DLP because the screen isn't grainy and you don't get that ...
Pros: Built-in tuners; Favorites & TwinView features; easy set-up and usability; awesome picture. Cons: Because it's projection from a single lamp source, perfect deep blacks are not really possible.
First things first, the title for this product is incorrect. The TV is not direct view, it's LCD rear projection. Also, it is not 36-in, it's a 55-in TV ... Sony's Grand Wega uses three 0.83-in LCDs (red, green, and blue) to reproduce the image on the ...
Pros: Excellent color, brightness and sharpness
Lots of user controls for tailoring the picture Cons: Poor black level detail
Some artifacts
HD programming will be a mind blowing on a properly set up display like this. The key is adjusting it correctly, and not leaving it in it's out of the box condition ready for bright, over saturated colors, and contrast, in order to sell itself on the ...
Pros: looks nice, works great when working Cons: Optical block failure - known problem. google sony lcd blue blob problem
I have owned this TV since May 2005. When connected to HD the signal is very good and the sound is good too; however, here is are the issues. 1. First I had the bulb go on me, so I paid 300 for that 2. I started to get blue blobs, and there is a ...
Pros: Great TV when it works Cons: Optical Block and Sony Service
Purchased this TV for $2,300. EIGHT (8) days out of warranty and the optical block fails. Called Sony customer service and they said they would not fix the TV! Told them to send me an optical block and I would cover the cost of installation, they said NO! Authorized repair would cost $1,200. Unbelievable that Sony would not back up their products. What made me even more angry is that you can purchase a remanufactured KDFE55A20 on Sony's web site for $995.00! My house is unfortunately filled with Sony products. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER SONY PRODUCT AGAIN! Purchased a Toshiba 50" Plasma as a replacement and set the Sony on the curb for garbage collection.
Sony does stand behind this TV by mwmorrow ,Dec 03 '07
Pros: thanks to Sony Cons: Finding your bill with the purchase date can be a problem after 3 years.
I read all the negative comments from people who said Sony customer support would not help them, but when I called about my KDF655WF655 that had developed the blue dot problem they gave me the name of a qualified service vendor, they came out and replaced the optical drive (or what ever it is) and it cost me nothing. Now I have a great picture again and I say thanks to Sony for fixing a TV that is 3 years old at no cost. I also have never had to replace the lamp even though this TV get lots of hours of use. Thanks Sony!!
Beware Sony Rear Projections by terpdx ,Apr 12 '06
Pros: Full-featured, aesthetically pleasing, good picture and sound quality. Cons: Notorious reliability issues. You're really playing a game of Russian Roulette with this product.
I purchased this television in the fall of 2004. At first, everything looked and functioned wonderfully. Now, 16 months later, the light engine has failed - a not uncommon occurrence with Sony LCD projections from what I've read. Since the television is no longer under warranty (isn't that the way it always works?) and the price of a new light engine is almost as much as the TV itself, I've replaced it with a Sony KDF-E55A20. About 1 hour after having the new TV installed, IT stopped working, too! Sony is generally well-regarded for producing quality products, but they're apparently having a difficult time of it with their LCD projection TV's - so much so that one law firm is preparing a class-action suit against Sony. So, Caveat Emptor, consumer!
I'll save you the read but my experience is exactly the same as Sparty's. Opticals went out and it's $1,100 to fix it. Sony will not stand behind their product. I had the TV 3 years and will never buy another Sony product again (and I used to buy a lot). Purchased a 67" Samsung and couldn't be happier. Sony you suck!
