DCRHC15E – Does not do what the box says it does. “Advertising gimmick”
by romanzn ,Oct 16 '05
Pros: Excellent picture quality, great touch screen technology. Cons: Transferring your capture data/media is an absolute nightmare.
I purchased this device in June 2004 with the intention of capturing memories forever on CD/DVD.
I tried everything to get this device to be detected by my p.c. and also to USB Streaming like the box says it can. I downloaded numerous third party software and Sony picture package upgrades to do this to absolute no avail.
I cannot even view my pics that I captured on the tape via my p.c.
I use to hold Sony products in very high regard I am now starting to doubt that. Very dissatisfied!

I don't know what edskoi2000 is talking about
by cubic_nz ,Feb 07 '05
Pros: Cool touch screen, good picture quality, easy to use, nightvision, includes remote control Cons: USB connection to PC gives terrible video quality, need to buy firewire cable.
I bought this camera in Singapore, and the bundled software does indeed come with the ability to make your own VCDs. You do actually have to have a CD burner though!

Bought under false pretences
by edskoi2000 ,Jan 21 '05
Pros: Small and compact easy to operate Cons: See above
In November 2004,I bought a DCR-HC 15E at Doha International airport Duty Free. Included with the Camera was a Sony Computor Applications Guide inferring that with the included installation software "Picture Package" and utilising a Windows operating system one can edit pictures on a computor and burn (save) pictures copied on computor to a CD.
This excited me as I wanted to be able to save all my videos on CD.
Well after spending many hours trying to achieve the impossible, I came to the conclusion that Sony are selling the product under false pretences as this is NOT possible. The DCR-HC15E does not have a memory stick port and one cannot do what the software claims can be done?
How can Sony Package and sell a camera under false pretences
