Pros: None Cons: Warranty support is at best lackadaisical, apparently indifferent, incompetent or both.
OK, maybe I got the one lemon Samsung has ever built. But a freight car full of superior Samsung printers is of no relevance to me; what is, is the one that developed a loud grinding noise only two weeks after purchase, during which it was barely used, ...
Pros: Clean, sharp print. Cons: NO heavy paper, power glutton (made my lights dim when running), first page slow
This printer does NOT handle card stock at ALL. And you can't find that information ANYWHERE except on the CD included with the printer. My fiancee and I bought this printer with the intent of printing our own wedding invitations. If you're thinking ...
Pros: Performance for the money Cons: Noisy, manual feed not the greatest
After a good hour or two spent on-line researching low end laser printers, I opted for the Samsung ML 1740. On the same day that I purchased it, I opted to take it back. It's not a bad printer, but it has one big flaw that didn't fit my needs. The ...
Pros: Cheap, fast, decent capacity tray, better for graphics than some believe. Cons: Starter cartridge doesn't last the advertised 1000 pages; noisy; absolutely murders envelopes.
I've had this printer for about four months. It would warrant no more than 3 stars if not for the fact that, after the frequently-offered rebate, it can be had for $99. In laser terms, a $99 printer probably should be absolute garbage. The 1740 is much ...
I chose a laser printer over an ink jet printer because of the overall costs of the printer and its operation. I have owned an inkjet printer in the past only to find that I seldom printed anything in color. When I didn't use it for a while, the ink ...
There are lots of good reviews already written, so I'll just add my experiences. I've had this printer for about 8 months now, and it only prints an average of 10 pages a day for school or work. Compared to the slow,ink-hogging,noisy Epson inkjet it ...
I finally got around to buying a laser printer last January, about a year after my last inkjet finally died on me. I got the usual sale and rebate, so I paid $99 for the printer. It was easy to set up, although the paper tray is a little fiddly to load ...
Pros: Cheap Printer, FAST, Feeder Trey, Cheap, Good Page Yield, Cheap, Wonderfull Text printer, CHEAP did I mention that already? Cons: Manual Feed can be a pain, Printer Settings Box isnt the greatest, And sometimes Jams when you do double sided ...
Pros: Great toner life, no more dried-up or clogged ink cartridges. Cons: Toner cartridges cannot be found locally, they must be ordered online.
This has been the best printed I've ever had. For years, I fought a losing battle with the !#$%^ inkjet printers. I print mostly documents, but with the occasional photo thrown in. So I'd use the black ink cartridges, open a photo color cartridge, make a ...
Pros: Least expensive printer for making quality checks, prints 17 pages/minute, fast start-up time. Cons: White casing doesn't match all my other silver and gray computer equipment.
As the publisher of software that makes checks, bank drafts and deposit slips, I am forced to test many printers on a regular basis to see how they handle thicker (24 lb.) check paper and if they can be used with MICR magnetic toner. I tested the ...
Pros: Good speed, quality, cheap. Cons: Loud drone, some electrical interference problem, paper feed failure
EDIT:
Today is the first time I printed a 48 pages research paper. I printed 24 odd pages on one side and 24 even on the other. Halfway through the second pass, it starts feeding multiple sheets. Big thumbs down.
The reason I bought this is that samsung has provided linux drivers and price.
Print quality is quite good, since it is 600dpi.
Print speed is much faster than my previous 6ppm laser printer. At 11ppm(?), I am not bothered if it is not the fastest printer out there.
On the down side, it is very loud when it is running. After a few minutes, it'll go into standby, and the quietness only last until the next time you print again.
The major quirk I have for this printer is that, everytime I turn it on, it starts its routine loud drone, and at the same time causing my room's light to flicker. I am not sure it is caused by the magnetic field or by power sapping. Something is definitely/extremely wrong here.

Pros: Cheap, quick printing. Cons: Bulky.
This printer became unusable after printing less then 30 pages of text. Stay away!
This printer started out pretty well. But after printing about 20 pages, the print quality decreased to below acceptable level. With, maybe, another 10 pages or so, the text is barely visible at all. And I've been only printing text!
Is this a problem with the printer? Is this a problem with the cartridge?
I've contacted Samsung, and they are not helpful at all! All they do is tell you that they're sorry you're having a bad experience. No support!
And the customer service's English is even worse then the English of whoever designed the Samsung site.
Bad experience with this printer by vpdura ,Jun 28 '05
Pros: Inexpensive, small Cons: Poor quality print, poor customer service
I've had this printer for six months now. For the first few weeks I thought it was great; but then I started having trouble with it. After printing less than 100 copies, the quality of the printed pages started to deteriorate. I tried a new toner cartridge and that didn't help. I contacted Samsung tech support but they were no help. I tried to get warranty service on it, but that was a no-go. I finally gave up and sold the printer for $5 at a garage sale to someone who wanted to try to fix it.
Pros: It's a laser printer for $88! (From a local discount warehouse.) Cons: Cartridge costs as much as printer, Power draw noticeable. Slightly slow but...
My two teens print everything they see on the internet. I was constantly screaming about the cost of the ink cartridges. I purchased this printer the last weekend of July (2005) and am just now beginning to think I may need a new cartridge. I gives a great clear, printed, non-smearing page. It's not super fast however and I can tell the exact moment that the printer has received the request because the lights dim briefly. No, this has not happened with any other printer I have (3 total at this time), so it is unique to this printer. I am very happy with the printer. I've done a little research on the cartridge & it appears as though I will spend $75-80 on the cartridge.
