Why did i wait?
by petrentz ,May 23 '05
Pros: Price, Quality, Reputation Cons: NONE
I just purchased this printer 1 week ago after consulting with the great people that post on Epinions....
I was sure to pick up a USB cord along with the printer from Staples. It was on sale for $99.98.
When I got home, i turned off the anti virus, put the CD in, plugged in the printer and in 4-5 min, i printed a fresh, clean, crisp black and white page. The quality if FANTASTIC for the things i will be using it for - word, excel, b/w pictures for reference, etc....
i'd buy another HP printer in a second if i had to.

Great little printer. Never a problem
by fishtank22 ,Jun 09 '05
Pros: Reliable, quick and gets the job done! Cons: None that I can find.
I bought this printer about 2 months ago after being fed up with the frustrations of my Epson Ink Jet printers. The Epson would always clog, or jam or pull two or 10 sheet of paper through the feeder.
BUT NOT MY TRUSTY 1012! I love this printer. Sure..it doesn't print color photos, but who needs that when you can get high quality color correct photos from a cheap stock printer like oFoto or Shutterfly. how many photos does a person need to print anyway.
I use it all the time and have NEVER had a problem. Its quick, never jams and gets the job done!
It was well worth the cash!

Toner Transfer Phenomenon
by speech ,Mar 14 '05
Pros: fast printing, print looks good (unless you rub it) Cons: toner smears, no USB cable included
We were very happy with this printer until something we had printed on it was returned to us in the mail. The toner had smeared all over the paper and produced a very unprofessional look. We use the 1012 for our small business, and were disappointed to find that this and many other HP printers have the same problem, termed a "toner transfer phenomenon" by the HP tech in India that occurs when sending something printed through the US Mail. Haven't found a printer yet that doesn't smear, apart from one inkjet that produces runny print.
