Dyson DC14 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

Pros: Easy to use hand tools Great for picking up hair without clogging
Cons: Price is steep

This is an excellent vacuum not only for animal lovers, but for a household with four girls with long hair it is a dream as well! The design of this machine is the most intuitive that i have seen in years.

Pros: None, besides the fact that it's a nice color.
Cons: It costs too much, and it couldn't even outperform a $70 Bissell.

Okay, I finally got over the price and bought a Dyson. I wanted to test it out, you see. So today, I vacuumed my berber carpet with it...very slowly. I was surprised to see how little cat and dog hair came out of my carpet (seeing that I have four animals total living strictly indoors). Then, I went over the same areas more quickly with my $70 Bissell and it picked up three times as much cat and dog hair than the Dyson. Enough said. Dyson's going back today. What a disappointment! I'm guessing a lot of these poor saps suffer from a bad case of cognitive dissonance. Look that one up.

Cons: Awful extending tool hose. Poorly designed tools. Heavy

The best feature of the Dyson Animal is the great suction. Everything else is downhill. Because of the great suction, it's very difficult to move the vacuum across pile carpet. The telescoping hose is a disaster. It requires two hands to use the poorly designed tools. The low reach tool is difficult to use under a sofa. It won't stay flat. It's impossible to clean rugs because the vacuum sucks the carpet into the machine. We're returning ours.

Pros: long cord, attachments for picking up pet hair, easy to empty canister
Cons: pricey, heavy,tipy, no adjustment for carpet height, brushes have to be clean constantly

I have 4 Aussies, they come indoors during the night and 2 house cats.  I vacuum at least once a day and often twice. So I need a good vacuum. I bought this vacuum because of the good reviews. If I had to do over again I would not purchase again. The hoover windtunnel does just as good a job for less the price, and I don't have to clean the brushes every week.

Pros:   Quiet, easy to use, powerful, picks up all the pet hair and dander.
Cons: the canister fills up very quickly. 

I just bought a used Dyson Animal and this thing is absolutely amazing!  STOP READING THESE REVIEWS AND BUY ONE!  It doesn't have to be new.  I bought a used one (great condition) for $150.  If you have pets, this machine will knock your socks off!

Cons: Overheats after 4 years, really heavy, can't reach corners well, hose hard to use/awkward

Have had for 4 years- now it overheats after only 5 minutes of use. Bought all new filters & still have problems. Heavy- doesn't get edges very well- suction OK- hose ridiculously difficult to use.

Pros: None
Cons: There's nothing good to say when it won't work

Regrettably, I found it necessary to order a replacement valve for the lower section. Despite having ordered it FIFTY days ago, and having my credit card charged the next day, I am STILL waiting for it and can't even get Dyson to respond to my requests.  Their service REALLY SUCKS!

I will never buy one again
