I've had this player for close to a year and can honestly say it's still working perfectly. I'd recommend it to anyone who's not going to listen to gigabytes of music at a time, and just wants something for listening to in the car, at home, at work, ...
Pros: sleek design, solid controls and layout, great sound (MX400 model) Cons: weak general FM reception, no alternate format (OGG)
In a nutshell, its easy to use, solid controls, looks and sounds great. I purchased the MX400 unit which is bundled with higher quality headphones. The unit has enough power to listen to while mowing and is versatile enough to use at the gym. The radio built in lets me tune into gym TVs (they transmit the audio for TVs on a low output FM channel). The controls feel solid and are easy to use. The FM tuner is a bit weak, so pulling in regular radio stations, even when outside is poor -- which makes it ONLY suited for gym TVs for me. Very sleek and sophisticated design. Wish it had OGG support also.
Highest sound quality MP3 player by admrgd ,Nov 05 '03
Pros: Best sounding MP3 player out there Cons: A bit more expensive than most players, no slot for more memory.
I set out to get the best sound possible in a portable MP3 player at any cost. I have hade my CW300 since it was released in early summer. I have owned 3 MP3 players and I cannot say enough good things about the sound quality of this unit; frequency response and signal to noise ratio are excellent!
The recording feature is also high quality and picks up everything in the room. The single AA battery lasts a very long time.
This unit costs more than the rest, but Conwon uses hardware MP3 decoding (others use software) to achieve the best sounding MP3 player on the market. That is also why they only support MP3 format for now...
I highly recommend the CW300. I paid $250 to get a 256MB model from the first batch, it is a steal at that price.
