Pros: Small, attractive, fast Cons: Crumb tray not removable, baking tray stays sticky, temperature settings wrong
One of the first things we were given when we arrived in our new apartment last November was a small Black & Decker Toast-R-Oven so that we could mainly fix toasts and fast meals during the adaptation stage of being in a new apartment AND having a ...
Pros: toasts and bakes as expected Cons: No done chime or removable crumb tray, not the most accurate temperatures
Anyone who has read my reviews knows that I dislike uni-appliances: those appliances that have 1 and only 1 function. Electric can opener opens cans. A toaster only toasts. And don't even get started on electric bagel slicers. So when my wife suggested ...
Pros: Toaster works fine, fast and convenient Cons: Oven part tends to burn, temps not accurate, crumb tray not removable
Wedding present gift We put this Toaster Oven on our registry at Bed Bath and Beyond. Black and Decker is a reliable name and the Toaster oven on display was easy to use and it seemed like it would be a great buy. (I had always wanted a Toaster ...
Pros: Rack pulls out when you open the door. Cons: Toast fair but setting not consistent for 1 slice versus more. Baking - burns everything.
I have never owned a Black & Decker toaster oven. I've always had other brands, but my sister has had several Black & Decker and was always pleased with hers for toasting and baking so when I started to shop around for a replacement for my "dead" ...
Pros: Nice even toasting on both sides, in a short time. Small footprint. Attractive appearance. Cons: Poorly designed on switch; no warning bell; interior not non-stick; crumb tray not removable.
I bought this toaster oven to replace a reliable GE we had for more than 20 years. I'm not interested in using this appliance as an oven or broiler, and wanted a relatively small footprint. We like using a toaster oven, rather than a regular toaster, as ...
Pros: Convenient count down toast function. Cons: Loses lots of heat all over machine, especially though front.
I bought this in the absence of my beloved Samsung Microwave/Toaster oven which went dead after a year. I decided I didn't want to spend too much money on another model. I am disappointed that this unit does not get as hot as the bake feature claims. ...
Pros: It DOES have a chime. Toasts well. Used it thoroughly. Cons: Couldn't find one in over 4 years!
I've had this Black & Decker for almost 4 years and never had a problem with it.
It works well even now, but because of the wear & tear, we got a new one (KitchenAid). Still, we're keeping this as a backup or if more "oven" is needed.
The colors are great, chrome/black,and because of it, all my newer items have the same color scheme. 4 years for a toaster oven is pretty decent I'd say. The sleek finish is a good addition for any kitchen, and it won't take much of your counterspace. Door handling is good and does not extend out too much on the counter.
Heat is locked in well. The tray is very sturdy, AND there is an opening at the bottom of the oven for easy cleaning of crumbs. I wonder if the others knew of it because I sure didn't in the beginning!
Even though I got this as a gift, you can get it for $29.99 at National Wholesale Liquidators, or other great department stores, for around the same price.
Pros: Works fine for toast or little pizzas Cons: Cheaply made,High risk of fire. Similar have been recalled. Consider a better brand
Oven worked fine. Used it all the time. But I kept it clean and tryed not to leave the room while toasting. Good thing. I never thought it would happen to me. During toasting, the oven burst into flames! I unpluged it and doned oven mits and took it out side where it had a little bonfire.
Pros: Bought on sale at Kohl's for $20; small footprint. Cons: Broke (bad on/off switch?)in only 5 months of light usage. Cheaply made chinese junk.
I had a couple of the older style B & D toaster ovens with the push down lever on/off switch; a total work horse that lasted for years.
We bought this loser of a toaster oven and it went inop after about 5 months of light usage. I think the on/off switch went (or maybe a fuse or circuit board); it just stopped working.
It is chrome paint finish not stainless steel so don't be fooled.
The door mechanism (which pulls out the metal tray upon opening) tends to jam a lot.
ALMOST SET MY KITCHEN ON FIRE by alicew96 ,Dec 31 '07
Pros: A simple, clean design - easy to use and at a low cost. Cons: Shoddily made, shorted electrical circuit.
You get what you pay for!
Wanted a low cost toaster oven with simple design and this one almost cost me my kitchen.
Apparently, the thermostat was broken in this cheaply made toaster oven, and it didn't know when to stop cooking. It shorted the electric circuit and burned the electric wall plate and electric wiring in the wall. Fortunately, the electrician caught it in time, before there was a fire.
It has been my experience with most Black and Decker products, that they are shoddily made and won't last very long. You won't find me buying another, despite their inexpensive cost.
Horrible product, poor quality by brgnhunter1 ,Jul 08 '05
Pros: Small, inexpensive, stainless-looking exterior Cons: Not worth it at any price, will break soon after purchase
Short story - bought it, temperature knob broke in half after about one week of light use. Returned it for another and the same thing happened after about a month. In addition, the door opening mechanism is poorly engineered and sticks badly after minimal use. Don't buy it.
Pros: the store is close enough to return it Cons: cost of gas to the store is rising faster than black and deckers quality control
I cannot believe they still stock this product. Black and decker should get out of the small appliance business. Only reason I keep getting a replacement is I bought a replacement warranty on it. However, after the third time returning for a new one , for various reasons, I'm not so sure even that was a good idea...But i consider it all my fault in the first place. Knowing Black and Decker was never known for a quality toaster oven.
Poorly made. A total waste of money at any price. by dc0930 ,Mar 26 '08
Pros: Small and attractive Cons: Pull-out tray jams every time. Door doesn't close tight.
We have a lot of problems with the pull-out tray since day one of using it. It jams EVERY TIME we try to open or shut the door. Actually it requires two hands to do so-- one hand holding the door handle and the other holding the top/back of the burning hot oven. After a few months of light use, the top edge of the glass door wouldn't even close tight. It leaves a 1/2 inch gap and needs a person to hold it shut the whole time toasting. What a waste of money.
Pros: Lightweight, easy to use, compact size Cons: Fire hazard, no bell or alarm
I've owned this product and used it occasionally only for the "toast" function for 20 months. I had never had a problem with it until today when I came home to find it ON for no reason. It had melted the plastic portion of another electric appliance and several sugar packets as well as burned several paper napkins that were set on top of it. The last time I had used the toaster over was at least 36 hours prior to this discovery. This toaster oven does not ring a bell when the timer is up, however it has always turned off automatically after a few minutes of toasting (the time depends on what darkness you set it to) or anytime you open the door of the toaster oven. I keep it set at medium for the toast setting and I have never set it to anything other than toast. I do not know if it remained on after the last time I used it or if the toaster oven suddenly turned on sometime during the last 36 hours, but I no longer feel that this product is safe to use.
