Pros: A fascinating look at nomadic life in Mongolia Cons: Veeeeeeery slow moving, a couple of small quibbles with some scenes
The Story of the Weeping Camel is a very unusual film made by German company THINKFilm in association with National Geographic. Set in Mongolia, it is more a documentary about the lives of a nomadic family than a conventional film, though there ...

Pros: Visually impressive; great animal photography and 'facial' expressions! Well executed, thought provoking. Cons: Birth scenes might distress some viewers; bonding ritual rather long.

A cultural adventure - A must for camelid breeders and fiber enthusiasts!
by l_bayaa ,Apr 26 '06
Pros: Moving; vibrant, colorful scenes of cultural interest; REAL; BEAUTIFUL CAMELS! Cons: subtitled; some may find certain parts slow-moving (unless, like me, you love anything Camelid)
Being a rancher of two types of Camelids, (Alpacas and Llamas), I had to see this made-in-Mongolia movie. I first rented the movie and watched it with my husband and 13 year old son. We all loved it! It was moving, funny and educational - both in a cultural and animal husbandry kind of way. We watched the DVD twice when we rented it. I was thrilled to see it offered in our DVD club listing and jumped on the opportunity to purchase it. We frequently loan it out to fellow Camelid enthusiasts and friends who enjoy learning about other cultures. The colors were vibrant and the camel scenes were extraordinary. What makes the movie extra special is that it basically followed the lives of a real family living their lives the way they do every day. I felt honored to be invited into their Yurt!
