Pros: Barbeau's sexy Stevie Wayne character, excellent supporting cast, great John Carpenter score, creepy settings Cons: Low body count
"The Fog" is John Carpenter's worthy follow-up to his classic 1978 smash hit "Halloween". More ghost story than slasher flick, "The Fog" tells the tale of the spirits of a drowned leper colony who met their doom 100 years...

Pros: Director, Narration, Story, Background, Genre
Cons: Zombie, Puzzling, Villain, Symbolic
Hundred years ago, on April 21, the wealthy captain Blake bought the vessel Elizabeth Dane and carried the crew of friends to Antonio Bay, California. They targeted to build the town with gold. However, while steering cross fog, they were misguided by ...

Pros: Setting, acting, soundtrack, pretty much everything! Cons: None
I think I'm stuck in the late 70's and early 80's. Today's horror flicks never seem, to me anyway, to capture the imagination and show creativity the way they did back then. Seems all directors are interested now adays is filling up the screen with CG ...

Pros: good anticipation, keeps you on the edge of your seat Cons: Adrianne Barbeau as the DJ, not a very good part for her
Scream Queen Jamie Lee Curtis teams up with John Carpenter again to make an early eighties fright flick about a lethal group of undead pirates that lay siege to a small oceanside town to reclaim the gold that was stolen from them while they lived....

Pros: Setting provides eerie mood, suspense, jump out scares. Cons: Some parts seem out of place and awkward, Jamie Lee Curtis character is pointless.
It is sad that this movie didn't get the recognition that "Halloween" got. "The Fog" I feel was more suspenseful, more entertaining, and has a better plot. It also has a better scare factor, because I like movies where things jump out, and this movie ...

Pros: Cleverly directed, good special effects Cons: None, unless you're taking yourself seriously
Inheriting much of the cast and crew of the preceding "Assault on Precinct 13" and "Halloween," "The Fog" is probably the least of John Carpenter's early films, but it really shouldn't be overlooked. Carpenter stretched a $1 million budget pretty far and ...

Pros: fright factor, Cons: special effects
If any of us watch films such as this one--you know, the ones from the early 80's and/or late 70's, we are quick to point out either the bad acting or horrible graphics. However, this one may make you look past each of those.
You are drawn into the...

Pros: great Cons: great
Fog is one if my favorites movie I watched it many times, but how ever it is now few years since I seen it last time, and I would love to see it again. Maybe buy it or rent it. I have a lot of friends who like it too. This movie is one of the best of the...

Pros: Carpenter, Ghost Pirates (you didn't hear it from me) - The Priest is great. Cons: Jamie Lee
I saw this movie a few years ago on TNT when I was just entering my Carpenter fan phase ( a phase i have not grown out of, I'm happy to say)
I was amazed at how such a hokey concept (a fog rolls in - people die) could be...

The Fog (1979)
by jollysailor ,Sep 18 '06
Pros: Elegant cinematography, superb score, superb direction Cons: too rare until very recently
This was Carpenter's follow-up to his 1978 hit Halloween & retains Jamie Lee Curtis as the star. The film is basically an old-fashioned ghost yarn of the sea, involving avenging dead sailors and a screaming Jamie Lee. Add to this the acting talents of Hal Holbrook as a bottle-battling priest, Tom Atkins as the all-american hero & Janet Leigh as herself and we have a real winner. The best performance may have to go to the wonderful John Hausmann as the enchanting storyteller who gets the ball-rolling. It may not be better than Halloween but its a close call, having more in common with Carpenter's '76 claustrophobic cult-hit Assault on Precinct 13 than the film that started the slasher genre. Superb camerawork and a rattling score enshrine the movie as a classic for all time.
An under-rated and somewhat unappreciated movie which is well worth owning.

Adrienne Barrboob
by mahkwi ,Dec 27 '05
Pros: The fog is good. Real good. Cons: As if.
All anyone kneeds to know is that Adriene Barboob is in it, along with a side of Hal Holbrook from Creepshow, ( a Romero Film). An absolutely terrifying movie. What happened to Carpenter? It used to be about ( I know this is cliche, and it is even more cliche saying it, but I'm listening to Slayer ) His ability to manipulate, decimate, confugulate, the audience with his abiltiy to scare people with what's not there. What the heck happened?
