Pros: low fees

I am with Netbank for probably 5 years now. Didn't have problems until recently. The new "Netposts" take a week to arrive (instead of the day they promise) and wire transfers get messed up.

Looking for a new bank now. They miss out on the basics of banking.

NetBank Unusual Charges

Pros: NetBank afforded me an online access to an account
Cons: They charge you if you don't deposit or withdraw money.
I just reviewed my NetBank account, and found that they charge for NOT using BillPay. I called their customer DIS-Service, and Brandy confirmed that this was correct. I asked her how to cancel my account, and she told me to use the BankMail tab on the web site. I immediately sent an email, requesting that my account be canceled. I couldn't imagine that I would be charged for leaving my money in their account! Leaving it would mean they would get more interest. I guess that, unless you have enough money for them to make a large amount of interest, they charge you for the small amounts.

DON'T BANK here...very poor service & misleading adds.

I opened an account through one of their promotions that offered to add $50 to my account just for opening it. The $50 credit did not show up on the statement for the first two months so I contacted customer “non-service”. They said I did not sign up using the correct web link and could not do anything about it. I used the link provided in the in their add…if NetBank’s technology is screwed up or if their advertising is wrong (or misleading) then that’s not my problem. So I asked to speak with a supervisor but the service rep. would not connect me but said I needed to write to customer service which I did. I got the same answer back.

To make matters worse they are charging me $3.00/ month for a low balance. Obviously I am closing the account. This company will be out of business soon with this kind of lack of respect for customers.

TAKE YOUR MONEY AND RUN BEFORE NETBANK TAKES IT ALL !!!

Netank - bad service, unauthorized fees

Cons: unauthorized fees, no customer service, total misrepresentation, overall negative experience
Netbank gives lots of promises of signup bonuses, low prices, good service, etc, but in reality have charged my account with unauthorized fees which I didn't find out about for several months, refused to reverse the charges, and are still trying to charge me $15 to close my account and send my money. The free online transfers they promised do not exist, and they have shown me absolutely no customer service skills. It has been a week since I instructed them to close my account and send my money immediately, and their only response so far has been an email I received today which was simply another delay tactic.

Pros: Easy to open account.
Cons: Poor Customer Service, Charge for Services NOT being used, Hard to close account.
All banks are bad, but Netbank has been the worst experience. No problem opening account and as long as you are putting money in. Don't try to transfer, or close this account. I was treated like an idiot from customer service when I asked why I was being charged $5 a month for NOT using the bill payer service. Trying to close the account has taken me 6 months! Do yourself a favor and stay away.

Pros: It offers a high rate of interest
Cons: No ATM and difficult to deposit money into the account.
No one picks up the phone ever. Its pretty annoying. I signed up for this to get Marriott Rewards points. This bank is not convenient at all.

I made an online transfer from an external bank to Net Bank. The transaction went through but the money did not come from the external account into my net bank account.

When I called the customer service, the rep could not see any transfer and told me that external transfers are at account holders peril. Net Bank provides service but is not responsible that the transfer would happen.

Cons: Long holds to clear checks, unpredictable access to funds
After a checking account was opened, and after a month or so of trouble-free operation they suddenly decided that some of the information provided during sign-up did not check out and requested more information - and the account was placed on hold. The notarized information they requested was shipped overnight, and I gave them the call next morning. They said they have received the information but they cannot give me a definite day for the account review and until that unknown date the account (with my funds) will be placed on hold, i.e. no transactions are possible. Now a week has passed, recurrent check card transactions are being canceled and I cannot get my money!

Don't ever use the Quickpost service

Cons: pretty much everything - worst customer service I've ever dealt with
If they lose Quickpost (UPS) deposits, it's a nightmare to get any sort of resolution. They lost a deposit of mine two weeks ago and still have not reimbursed me for the stop-payment on my deposit. The customer service department probably gets paid seven or eight bucks an hour, at the most. It's kind of like a fake bank if you ask me, at least they act like a fake bank - they don't care about their customers at all.

The only thing Netbank is good for is a cash account and occasional bill-pay. You can use their ATM card practically anywhere and they will not charge you. The machine might charge, but they don't.

I will keep this account, but the balance will stay low and the only thing I will get out of it is cash and maybe use the bill-pay for cable or whatever. I will stick with a real bank for my real banking.

Poorly working bank that sells its mailing list to spammers

Pros: Once it works, it works ok for most typical operations, not worse than the competitors.
Cons: Sells mailing list to spammers, makes mistakes, difficult to contact and correct even obvious mistakes.
My experience with this bank was simply terrible. They made many mistakes before the account got fully functional, including sending my startup checks and documents to my old address despite having my new one on file. I canceled a few months ago. What made me write this review was that I discovered today that I started receiving spam to the email address I gave them. I have disposable addresses that are specific for different companies, i.e., the address that I used for netbank was netbank@xyz. This way I can identify those who sell email addresses to spammers and remove the particular address from my list of acceptable ones. I am going to report them to the relevant agency.

More trouble than it's worth

I opened a NetBank account several months ago to serve as my bill paying account. From day one there were problems accessing my account on line (and I am not on line "challenged"). The security was so tight even I couldn't access my own account. The customer service reps were not helpful and only fueled my frustration. To add insult, even when I faxed written requests, including copies of my driver's license, I received no notification that they had received it. All they ever sent were annoying spams about how easy it is to access my account on line. Netbank is more trouble than they're worth.

Beware of Netbank

Cons: Do things that are not in their disclosures
I have an account with Netbank and after a few NSF checks they placed a safe hold on my account which meant that any deposits will be held and not made available for 7 business days. This safe hold would be in effect for 180 days. Which means they will return any checks you write that post to the account regardless of you making a deposit. This happened to me on 09/06/06 and customer service claimed they could not escalate the issue I had to send a Bank Mail to dispute this. Beware of them!!!

THREE WORDS: HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE

Cons: EVERYTHING!!!!!! THEY SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN IMMEDIATELY@!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE CHOOSE SOMEONE ELSE.
I would not recommend this bank to my dog. This bank does not care about customers, customer service, or availability to anyone. Here's an example, they cal themselves an "Internet Bank", they want no encourage you to look online for everything (and I'm fine with that), but when you go online NOTHING EQUATES!!!!!! I called in several times to inquire about the inaccuracies of their systems and I was told to deal with it. I was horrified. Their systems (online) showed a $500 balance, the CSR stated that it was actually $700 and would update at 10 tonight, the automated system stated $600. When I asked why everything was out of sync I was told, "Don't worry you have funds available. Just spend less than $500 and you can't go wrong" Can you believe it?

NetBank doesn't honor Marriott Reward program

Pros: Not sure there are lots of better internet banks out there.
Cons: Higher interest rates available at HSBC, E*Trade, USAA, CitiBank so why bother with these smucks.
So I signed up for checking, CD & money market accounts with NetBank because of a pretty nice Marriott rewards program they where running.

Well they opened the accounts no problem. But now it has been six months (and six months of email inquires) and I have only received points for one of the accounts.

After trying to get this resolved for six months I get a response that its Marriott's problem, but no date or anything else to validate this claim. On top of that they say the CD doesn't qualify for the reward, well it did for the program they where running six months ago.

Basically they are blowing me off rather than correct the problem.

Can't get a response to my withdrawal request

I've maintained 2 accounts (checking and CD) with NetBank since 2002 and never had any problems until recently. On March 1st my 1 yr CD matured ($105K balance). I called them to renew the CD for $100k and send me the $5K balance...like I've done every year when the CD matures. The customer service rep politely told me to make the request through their secure on-line "Bankmail" system. I did so, but when I viewed the account on-line a couple days later it showed no change. I called customer service, and was politely told the request would take 2-3 days to process. I called 4 days later and was told it takes 5 days to process. I called on day 8 and was told a supervisor would handle it. It's now day 15 and no response to my 4 calls and 4 "bankmails."

Update: On day 19 I called and informed a supervisor that the Department of Treasury's "Office of Thrift Supervision" was interested in my situation; and that they had requested all my documentation. I'm pleased to note that on day 20, I was finally acknowledged and the $5K check sent to me.
