What a value! A solid performer, with a great feature set, component video switching...

by extravecchio , Dec 05 '04
Pros: Price/Performance, Component video switching, DTS decoding, Assignable optical inputs, Great power
Cons: Older unit, One pair of surround speakers (5.1), only switches two component sources, no DVI
I have owned the DENON AVR-3300 since it's initial release, and it has been an absolute top performer. Whether you're looking for a highly capable unit to be your primary receiver, or need this for a secondary room, the AVR-3300 will not disappoint. ...

Denon AVR 3300: Cross-talk problem between inputs

by sm5w2 , Apr 05 '02
Pros: It does the job.
Cons: Volume level (attenuation setting) needs to be larger; input cross-talk
My unit does not suffer from the "noisy fan" syndrome that I've read about. I would never know that the 3300 even had a fan.

Since the 3300 has been out of production for a while, these reviews aren't likely to sway anyone's purchasing...

Home theater heaven.

by txmike1945 , Mar 26 '02
Pros: Attractive, powerful, full of features.
Cons: There really aren't any.
I bought my Denon AVR3300 almost 3 years ago, when they were still scarce and paid the full retail price for it. At 105 watts per channel it has more power than most of us will ever approach at home, especially if we are also using an external powered...

Nice idea; flawed execution

by paluc52 , May 23 '01
Pros: Good power & fine Dolby AC-3 and dts processing
Cons: Build quality, particularly fan system
The Denon AVR-3300 was meant to provide much of the performance of Denon's former flagship, the AVR-5700, at a third of the price. The AVR-3300 features very sophisticated digital signal processing via a single SHARC floating-point processing chip (the...

Want to be in the movie?

by acuratl , Apr 30 '01
Pros: Audio sound. Versatility. Lots of inputs.
Cons: Remote confusing.
What else can I say but WOW! The receiver is just purely awesome. Many people told me to buy Yamaha over Denon because Yamaha provides betters movie sound and Denon provide better sound quality. I listened to both of them and I immediately made my...

Great Receiver for the price

by apcarandang , Feb 25 '01
Pros: Excellent channel separation, 5 channel mode that works well
Cons: Bad heatsink design. Remote can be better.
I was looking for a replacement receiver for my Yamaha RV2092 which doesn't have DTS decoding for a while now. I didn't want to spend another $1500 for anew receiver so when I saw the Denon AVR3300 being auctioned at Ubid, I couldn't resist. Paid almost...

denon rocks

by lfraime , Nov 24 '00
Pros: all the bells and whistles
Cons: none that i can find
This is such a great receiver. Don't even compare to Yamaha or Sony. This is very sweet sounding, with many good modes for the surround and effects. All very customizable. I went from an old powerhouse of a receiver from the 70's to this and don't regret...

by techmaster , Nov 03 '00
Pros: What you get for your money.
Cons: None
I recently bought this receiver and right out the gate I was happy. I mean, for about a $1000. you can have a really good sounding receiver with tons of features. Allot of the features found on this receiver you won't find on receiver's twice this...

Impressive performance for home theater AND music

by mdarren , Aug 09 '00
Pros: Clean amp, Warm musical sound, 5 Channel Stereo mode, 8 channel inputs for future formats
Cons: Remote control, Component video switching probably not up to HDTV specs
This Denon is an upgrade from my previous Yamaha RXV-870 receiver. I was searching for a receiver that would provide better audio quality along with Dolby Digital and DTS decoding. I got what I was looking for, plus some.

THE UNIT

Serious boom for the buck

by cdwilli1 , Jul 19 '00
Pros: Sounds great. Easy to set up. DSP's work very well indeed.
Cons: Remote too complex (aren't they all)
We lived for a couple of years with a $3000 Pioneer receiver with AC3 (Dolby Digital) that worked perfectly for Laserdisc but was a struggle to make work with any other input source. The Laserdisc was retired when a DTS DVD player came home to roost,...

Refined Audio at Fair Price

by grgcombs , Jul 19 '00
Pros: Price, Sound Quality, Inputs
Cons: Ugly Remote
I owned my Onkyo TX-DS838 for over three years before deciding to replace it. I was unhappy with it's Dolby Pro Logic Surround Sound decoding, and I was very unhappy with its limited number of digital inputs. The tuner was a chore to run from the...

Nothing But Marketing Hype

by riverside71 , Mar 21 '00
Pros: Marketing Hype, Base Response, Tuner, Quiet Background during Music Playback
Cons: REMOTE, REMOTE and REMOTE, Weak Prologic Mode, Sibilance in Female Vocals, Lack of Warmth in Music Reproduction
I purchased the Denon AVR-3300 after being unlucky with two Onkyo Receivers. The TX-DS575 seemed weaker in supplying power to the rears. I upgraded to the TX-DS777 which was better but had the same annoying hiss from all channels, not to mention source...

Denon Doing It Right, Again

by dmoeller17 , Feb 08 '00
Pros: Sound, Power, Clarity, Construction, Value
Cons: none
People that have been around the industry in the past two year have noticed that Denon has been putting out some amazing products. They rivals many other products that cost thousands more.

The Denon AVR-3300 IS THE most sought after receivers...
