Pros: Fit, finish, ride, handling, power, fuel economy Cons: Repairs and routine service ridiculously frequent and expensive. The Bottom Line: Superb engineering, fit and finish, ride and handling, but, oh, at what a price!
I was surprised to see a listing for a car that's now almost 9 years old, but as I own one (purchased as a used, "Starmark" vehicle almost 5 years ago), I thought my experiences with this car would make for some interesting reading. My wife and I ...

Pros: Excellent handling, features Cons: price of service The Bottom Line: Styling is slightly less silly than later models. Other than minor key problems, it's a dream.
I have the station wagon model of the E320, which replaced a C220 (my first venture into the world of Mercedes cars). I had leased the C220, and when the lease ended, I went looking for a replacement that was as comfortable as the 220, but had a bit...

Pros: Quality, Value & Performance Cons: Paint Maintenance
Have owned my 97 E-420 for close to 3 years. It was purchased pre-owned after 8 months use by 1st owner. The car came with every option available with the exception of the sport package.
We bought the car because of its styling and...

Pros: Quick pick up, quiet & smooth engine, sturdy chasis, great handling. Cons: steering effort too light, road noise
I've driven the E420 for over 3 years, and I put a set of 18" AMG Aero II monoblocks with Dunlop SP8000 235/18/40ZR tires to bring up the performance. At this setup alone, it transformed the handling completely, where I could make turns with much...

Pros: sports car handling, great acceleration, safety Cons: none as far as I am concerned
I always thought that I had a keen appreciation for good cars. As a young woman I chose Sports Cars and thought I would never be happier than when rounding steep curves in my little Porsche, later Z, 'Vette, etc. However, as a mature woman who drives a...

Pros: Quality Cons: Size
Whats amazing is how this car is like the energizer bunny. My experience after 3 years and 55,000 miles is flawless. Yes, some people have problems with this car, but on the whole it is everything MB is and has been selling. Specifcally the service I...

Pros: Ride, luxurious appointments, Cons: Price, repair history
This MB can be the answer to the car lovers dream. Roomy interior, wonderful ride quality, nicely appointed interior. It feels like class every time you sit in it.
We bought ours new at the beginning of the '97 model year and were thrilled to have a...

Pros: Great Value, Flawless V6, Beautiful Ride Cons: Expensive Regular Maintanence (As with any MB)
The Mercedes-Benz E320 is by far the absolute best value of any MB. This car is beautifully detailed for the $42,000 price. As long as I have owned this car I have only had one complaint. I have broken it down below into sections enjoy!

Pros: Quality build, performance, prestige Cons: Expensive regular maintenance, paint maintenance The Bottom Line: Excellent value and performance in a high-end, luxury performance sedan.
If you are in the market for a luxury vehicle and don't relish spending 50K or more, consider purchasing a used, 3-5 year old Mercedes E Class vehicle. I recently purchased a used, 1997 Mercedes E420 Sport instead of a new Acura or Lincoln and I...

Pros: reliable, great features Cons: too small for family with babies
I leased my MBZ C280 right before we got pregnant. I was driving a Jeep Wrangler at the time, and knew we needed more of a family car, with 4 doors! Safety was also a big issue with me. So, we looked at the Mercedes. I loved it. I loved the car's...

Pros: Safety Features Cons: Everything Else
I recently purchased a 1997 Starmark C230 Benz. This car is definitely not worth all of the excitement and wonderful reviews it has received over the years. I agree with most owners that this automobile has many safety features, but nothing that I can't...

Pros: fun to drive Cons: price
The Mercedes Benz E320 has sleek lines that were mastered by the MB engineers in Germany. While the car comes in the standard colors, the black opal option is by far my favorite. Although there is an up charge for the metallic paint, it is well worth...

Pros: Largest trunk, Roomy, Safe, Versatile Cons: Not enough extras thrown in for free.
I currently own a Mercedes Station Wagon E280 4-Matic. Of all the cars I have driven and bought over the years, this has to be the most versatile. Never have I been able to use my car to do so many different things. From do the shopping, to moving...

Pros: Highest quality combination of comfort, safety and ride integrity Cons: It will never be a sports sedan, but wanting to go faster is not what a family car is
I purchased this 1997 model in Sept of 1996, one of the first C-230's for the US market. Having driven a BMW 325 for the previous four years I admit to being spoiled by BMW performance. The children grew and the back of the bimmer just did not cut it....

Pros: Great driving performance! Cons: Sensor light messages are crap!
Get a good mechanic! The Bottom Line: MB should make a override feature in case the driver side seat motors go out for safety. Make the sensor messages more truthful.
I purchased a pre-owned 1997 E420 Opal Green MB with 60,000 miles. I am at 82,000 miles on the car. The "Check Engine Electronics" sensor light gave me problems in the very beginning and I was afraid I had purchased a lemon. However, there was a...
