I had the chance to travel out to Las Vegas a few months ago. I’m a member of a site called Where’s George and a few other people were heading out there last March. It was the first time that I’d be traveling by myself and ...
Pros: Good prices, nice minimums at the tables. Cons: Long walks, low bathroom ceilings and shower heads. No penny slot machines.
Recently I spent a few days in Las Vegas with my family. For the first couple of nights we stayed in the Luxor, a fine, if somewhat pricey hotel. For the last two nights we stayed in The Tropicana, a somewhat not so fine hotel, but more affordable. ...
Pros: The Pool, The Rooms, The Dining, The Location, Cons: Not much for the kids to do.
IntroductionWell after letting the savings account stack up for a while, I realized it was time to take my annual money-losing trip to Las Vegas. I had stayed at many middle-of-the-road resorts in Vegas lately, and decided I would ...
Pros: Beautiful hotel, perfect staff.
Cons: We had a dirty sheet experience.
Last year my husband and I ran off to Las Vegas and got married. We had our wedding in a chapel on the strip and stayed in the Tropicana hotel. There are two towers for the hotel. There is the original Tropicana building and a newer building right next...
Pros: Great location, good price, and more low key than some of the "mega-resorts" Cons: It shows it's age and it's not the best hotel in Las Vegas
The truck was coming up fast behind me on dusty Highway 15 S. I gunned the accelerator and hoped that the fast mover wouldn’t end up in my trunk. Such is life driving on this crazy desert highway. The engine grinded and finally picked up enough ...
Pros: Good rates, relatively clean rooms; nice pool; "traditional" Vegas hotel Cons: Rooms showing some wear; pool can get cluttered with litter
Don't let the location of the Vegas Trop fool you (it's on a famous corner of the Strip next to the MGM Grand and across the street from Excalibur and the New York New York). This is "old style" Vegas, and you'll notice it the moment you walk in. If ...
Pros: Price, attentive staff, location, location, location! Cons: Spartan rooms, small casino & sports book, food only O.K.
We stayed at the Tropicana the first week in August of '05. The main factor in choosing the Trop was price & location - the Tropicana is directly across from New York, New York & the MGM Grand and within walking distance to the monorail. We stayed ...
Pros: Cheap
On the Strip Cons: Poor Food
Poor Service
Poor Quality Casino
A couple of months ago (January of this year), I took my first trip to Las Vegas to attend CES 2008 and to see the city. Being young, I did not want to spend a whole lot of money, but I wanted to be on the strip so I stayed at the Tropicana. I can tell ...
The hotel is conveniently located at the airport end of the strip on the corner of Tropicana Ave. and the Strip. The hotel is adjacent to the MGM, New York, New York and Excalibur. The Island and Paradise Towers are the rooms to stay in. Especially stay...
Pros: Friendly, competent staff. Cons: Long walking distances from some rooms.
We decided to have a family reunion, and where better to have it than Las Vegas? After looking online, we decided on the Tropicana. The location was great and the prices very affordable. After only a few phone calls with the Sales Department we were ...
Pros: bridal chapel and staff nice Cons: dirty, rude maids, run down
I booked an Island Tower room at the Tropicana for a friend's wedding there in June. After flying all day from Detroit, I went straight to the hotel to check in and meet up with the bridal party for drinks and dinner. The room... let's just say ...
Pros: Cheap Rooms Cons: Cheap Hotel, Lousy service, dirty pool
We arrived in Las Vegas at midnight, got to the Tropicana before 1:00 a.m., went immediately to the only restaurant that was open, ordered a drink (which we intended to pay for) and found out the bartender had left for the evening!!! We were told if we ...
Pros: Relatively nice rooms Good location Cons: Charges for things that should be free
'Just got back from LV yesterday. I booked a room for 4 nights at the Tropicana through lasvegas.com. When I arrived to the Hotel I was told that I would be charged an $8.71 "daily resort fee", a total of $34.84 for my 4 night stay. It seemed that no ...
Pros: Great location, great prices Cons: Directions inside are confusing
We stayed at the Trop and had a great time! It's got the best location and best prices. We found good rates at their website, so we booked online. When we checked in, the front desk staff was very friendly. Our room was clean and had a great view of The Strip. The hotel is right on the corner of Las Vegas Blvd. (The Strip) and Tropicana and is right across from the MGM, NY-NY, and Luxor (the pyramid). Everywhere we wanted to go was within walking distance. We ate at the Savanna Steakhouse in the hotel. The food was great and so was our server. Very on top of things! We also saw the Folies Bergere. Classic Las Vegas! The topless showgirls were beautiful and the show as a whole was just what we hoped it would be. For the price, location, and everything they have to offer, we will definitely be going back to the Trop!
Great for Las Vegas on a budget by flafox67 ,Jun 09 '04
Pros: Great location. Fabulous price. Helpful staff. Cons: Garden rooms are showing some age, but my family did not seem to mind.
Don't be afraid of some of the reviews of the Tropicana that you find online. My family (w/ 3 kids ranging from toddler to teenage) stayed at the Trop in June of 2004. We found the rooms to be clean and quiet. The a/c worked great in the 110 degree weather. All the staff were nice and helpful. We stayed in the garden rooms which are showing some age, but we found them comfortable. The staff were very accomodating with placing us in our requested adjoining rooms. All in all, we feel we got a great value for what we paid.
