Yeah, it's good!

Pros: Takes a beating and keeps on cranking! Cons: Hmmmmm... never tried surroundsound, so can't comment on that.
I have been hammering my STR-DA5ES hard for 4+ years without so much as a hitch. And yes, it is a beast! But, for all its weight, it shows in performance. It is like a straight wire gain, to maximum output, with no indication of distortion, clear till it goes into its protection mode. I have driven many capable late-model and vintage speakers. It just keeps on giving!
I like it so much that I bought another off eBay! Less than $500, after paying $1300+ for mine, new! And the 5 year warranty is still intact!

One of the best recievers out there.
Hooked up to any DVD player through the optical input/output makes your home theater better then the movies. Higly recomended for DVD and Home theater buffs.
