Good durable bicycle
by zombywolffrank ,Apr 02 '08
Pros: Very reliable Cons: The only cons I have is the pedals and kick stand
I bought this bicycle from WalMart about 7 years ago.Never a problem with the quality or performance. The only thing I've replaced is 1 tire and maybe 3 tubes.Maybe that's because of the perventative maintanince I performed on it,but that goes with anything.I think I paid about $130 for it in 2001.After about 10,000 miles on it it still runs almost like a new broken in bicycle.I'll probably have to replace the crank on it soon.No spoke problems,no rust problems,no shifting or braking problems.Very few flats(all on rear wheel)Extremlly easy bicycle to maintain and work on.Looking forward to upgrading to a Le Tour GS within the next year or so.Highly recommend for a affordable bike

This bike is bad!!
by krysal ,Jun 13 '09
Pros: Cheap Cons: Inefficient, cheaply made
I am a student in high school and my mom bought me this bike. She had gotten it for me last year because my previous bike had broken and caused me to get injured. Injured to the extent that I needed surgery. She had bought this bike thinking it's a Schwinn it will work well. I have had this bike for about one year, and it is doing the same thing my previous bike was. It also is out of the rain almost all of the time and some parts are already rusting. I am beginning to no longer ride it in fear of getting hurt. If you want to get this bike, take caution when you have had it for for any length of time.

Excellent so far.
by rmindas ,Sep 20 '08
Pros: Price Dependability Cons: Nothing so far.
I bought one of these at Wal-Mart last spring as part of an effort to lose weight and get back in some kind of shape. I didn't think I would be riding all that much but in the last two summers I've logged about 1,500 miles and counting. So far I have had zero maintenance or quality issues, I will probably have to replace the front brake pads before next spring, but that's it. I have been in a couple of ugly places (knee deep in mud) but just hosed it off and put it in the garage till next time. Not bad for a "cheap" bike.

So far so good
by joelbot7700 ,Jul 14 '08
Pros: Smooth shifting, looks good, good price, front shock, good brand Cons: SEAT SUCKS
Maybe I'm being a bit premature here, but so far I really like this bike. I've taken it on 3 10-mile rides and had only one problem- the seat. It's very uncomfortable, and I have no idea who did the testing on it, but they must have been severely and repeatedly spanked as a child to find that thing even bearable. So I replaced that and now it's great. It shifts smoothly, brakes quickly, and gets me to where I need to go. Plus it looks pretty good, and the price was right. All in all, 4 out of 5 stars, the one removed being for the $20 extra I had to spend on the seat, but really, another 20 dollars on top of the great price is not too pricey still. So scratch the 4- I'm giving it 5 out of 5 stars. I'm taking it on another 10-miler tonight, so I'll let you know if I change my mind.

look elsewhere
by joshengman ,Jun 29 '08
Pros: was a decent ride while it lasted Cons: fell apart after ~ 1 month of riding
I bought this bike about a month ago at Walmart. I actually bought two of them (one for my parent's house).
After the third day of riding, the handlebar came loose. I tightened it right away, but it regularly comes loose. The handlebar pads became disheveled after about 1 week of riding.
The seat started having problems after 3 weeks of riding. Also, the front tire became wobbly... I wasn't able to find a way to fix it.
Today, the bolt that holds the back tire in place appears to have separated in two.
I ride this bike on bike trails to and from work. I don't ride it rough or off road or long distances.
Schwinn claims it's under warranty, but their warranty doesn't cover labor? lol.
I buy a new bike each year because it's cheaper than owning a car; this year, I have to buy two, because this bike is a pile of garbage.
Nothing against schwinn... I've owned plenty of Schwinns before without problems. There's something wrong with the quality of the sidewinder.

schwinn sidewinder nice bike for the price.
by bmw325isal ,Dec 03 '07
Pros: PRICE ,Looks , ride Cons: none
I bought this bike about a month ago at Wal-mart. It was listed at 140$, but when i went to check out it rang up at 79.99....lucky for me..cause I hate wal-mart, but would have gladly paid the 140$. I ride this bike nearly everyday to work about 2 miles each way. Living in a busy Metro area, Theft is always a real possibility so the price is def. right. rear derailer needed adjustment when i got it, took about an hour to get everything shifting right. once i got it on the road it shifts smooth. suntour front shocks are ok , a little soft, but for commuting they are functional ......I haven't tried but serious off-roading might be questionable .....all in all I would reccomend this bike
This is a really nice bike for the price. Looks are quite stylish

Schwinn Sidewinder 2.6fs 26" ATB
by gc208b ,Sep 16 '03
Pros: Oversized steel frame, Shimano components, SRAM Grip Shifters, RST Front Suspension, Wheels, Crank, Gear ratio. Cons: The seat is small and uncomfortable.
I like the oversized steel frame look and the high quality paint job. I like how the frame is stiff and strong. Good weld points too.
