Pros: Full featured expandable phone system.
Cons: Horrible battery life.
The battery life is ridiculously short. The phone worked OK when I got it - never anywhere close to the talk time advertised on the box. Within 6 months or so, the battery life is to the point where a 20 minute phone call is nearly impossible from a ful ...

Not a good phone
by cloudmanii ,Jun 01 '07
Pros: sound quality Cons: poor features
The phone clicks off when retrieving messages which is a great annoyance since you have to go through all of the messages to get to the one you want. You can't delete messages from the headset and from the base you delete all at once. Terrible features. Don't buy this phone

HORRIBLE PHONE!!!
by nabeel4real1 ,Sep 18 '06
Pros: nothing in particular, anything good a standard cordless telephone has. Cons: TOTALLY HORRENDOUS BATTERY LIFE!!!!!!
this phone is an absolute waste of money, because of the HORRIBLE battery life. charge it for as long as you want, even days, and get NOT EVEN 10 MINUTES OF BATTERY LIFE. within one minute during your telephone conversation it will indicate that the battery is low, and within three minutes later, (for me) the phone will just fall dead. however once i got this phone to go for 51 minutes without any annoying battery life trouble, but guess what happened each conversation after? if you guessed it went it went dead in not even 10 minutes of use, you were correct. simple, this phone is horrible, complete waste of money, panasonic, you should really be ashamed of this phone you made.

GREAT PHONE AND BATTERY
by greenaire ,Dec 01 '05
Pros: speaker phone does not sound like it is a speaker phone Cons: I do not like the style. A little too flashy metallic
I bought and used the KX-TGA270s 4 years ago, I believe. Good speaker phone on handset, clear phone, good range and unlike most of the other reviewers, I have good battery life. This may be because I am aware of the limitations of this type of battery and use them to maximize their efficiency. I have never run out of battery while I was using the phone. I like the fact that they are easy to program to the base and do not seem to have problems with microwaves, and wireless networks. I am out to buy two more right now...

believe what they tell you, stay away
by mckeefery ,Feb 10 '05
Pros: functionality Cons: batteries
customer support
This product had everything I was looking for in a phone system so I paid the high price. I was taken. This product is terrible.
The batteries don't even last one phone call sometimes, one 5 minute phone call. I also had 2 units go bad and were replaced. One bit the dust after the warranty period so I paid a lot of money for a paper weight.
A couple of the lines are so faint, no one can hear me so I guess they are trash too.
If you talk with Panasonic, they claim this is a great phone with no problems.
If there were smart they'd send me a new system so I'd stop spreading the truth.

Buy extended life battery from ATT
by akinsr ,Apr 08 '05
Pros: Excellent features including speakerphone on handset as well as base station. Cons: Battery life can be problem unless you are careful to put in cradle every night
I have had exceptional service from my base station and expansion set but I do recommended purchasing extended life batteries. These phones prefer sitting in the cradle so if you are diligent enough to put in cradle every night you shouldn't have the battery problems many are concerned about.

Battery Life- UGH
by tlm33 ,Jun 02 '05
Pros: The expandable system is great, lots of features. Cons: Battery life TERRIBLE. Can't find homebase link.(I am standing right next to it).
At first I loved this phone system...but the past 3 months the full charge of a battery lasts maybe 15-20 minutes. I have only had this system for 1 year. Believe me 189.99 for a phone system and the batteries on every phone die. Unacceptable. I am trying the system restart like the last review but I doubt it works. It looks like we will have to buy batteries for all phones. I just can't believe that 8 months into a new expensive phone system and it always die. I'm pretty disgusted that I've got to the point that I don't even use the Panasonic (because it dies on my phone calls) and I use our old Sony phone that keeps on ticking!!

kx-tga270s Great Phone Bad Battery
by latta ,Apr 01 '04
Pros: Intercom between phones, speaker phone, privacy button, headset plug, little interference, long transmission range. Cons: Battery life not good.
Best phone system I ever used in terms of features. I have eight of them and love the intercom feature between the phones. No more screaming for the kids. Now lets go to the battery. Well with 3 teenagers I knew the battery would take a beating. I even hide some of the phones in a charging area so they get a full day charge. After about 6 months the batteries just do not hold a charge. Don't even think about using the speakers. I did find the batteries for around 16 bucks so I guess this is the price we have to pay. There is a market for someone to make a good battery for this phone!

Handset is a disappointment
by donapd ,Aug 03 '06
Pros: Great features, love the answering machine is also accessible from the handset. Cons: Poor battery life and phone will no longer keep a charge at all.
We got this expansion handset as a VERY EXPENSIVE gift along with the regular phone. The features are great and we love the answering machine feature on it and that sort of thing. Like everyone else is saying, there is a big problem with the battery. It died in less than a year, but whatever we replaced it. That one lasted two months. Now, the phone will not keep a charge at all. Brand new battery, you can leave it on the charger as long as you want, pick it up to use it and it will be dead. Wouldn't buy this product again and really are missing have a reliable cordless phone.

Good Phone, Battery life very erratic
by epindmo ,Dec 19 '05
Pros: Can copy phone number directory to all handsets Cons: Battery life is erratic
I have base and 5 handsets. The two handsets on the same floor as base have decent battery life. The two upstairs and the one downstairs do not. The worst part is that the battery gauge on the LCD screen shows 3 blocks (full power) when you begin using the phone, and then all of a sudden, it goes to flashing empty with a "recharge" message. The two handsets on the main floor drain more regularly, blocks go 3-2-1-recharge message. I have replaced one battery already, now I'm trying to swap batteries to see if it is a problem with the handset or the battery. If someone finds batteries that work better, I would be interested in finding out how to get them.

Horrible Battery Life
by salypa ,Nov 24 '04
Pros: intercom, speakerphone, caller id Cons: battery life, battery life, battery life
Unfortunately I invested quite a bit of money in the cordless answering machine w/fax and 3 extensions. While I really like all of the features, I found it pretty dissapointing that all 3 batteries became useless in less than a year. I can't afford a new system so am stuck buying 3 new batteries.
