First time ever to use a foil shaver. Have been Norelco'ing for 40 years and just wanted to try something different. Spent a week researching/reviewing shavers before settling on a Panasonic. Today (12/17/2007)I went to Best Buy to touch/feel/maybe buy a Pana ES8078. On the bottom shelf laid the ES7056 for $40. I just couldn't pass it up. This shaver cost less than new rotary blades for my Norelco. I shaved this evening and got an extreme shave. If the quality of shave holds for 6 months, I'll have gotten my moneys worth.

I'll cut to the chase, I'm in my late 40's and have a fast growing, tough growth. The only way I have been able to get a close shave is to use my electric first (Braun 5422), than finish up with a 4 blade and shave cream. My wife wonders why I refuse to shave on the weekends. I can grow the beginning of a beard in a three day weekend. Been at this for years. I finally smartened up and pored thru Epinions to get a consensus on an electric shaver that gave the closest shave. Just came back from Best Buy with a Panasonic Vortex (ES 7056), charged the sucker up for an hour, and went at it. First shave out of the box and I have as close a shave as I ever got with my old routine. The Braun is now in the trash. I've owned 2 different Braun shavers and they never did the job. I really didn't care about rechargeable, self-cleaning, LED lights, shave in the shower, etc etc. Just give me a close shave, and please do it simply. I think I may be out of the double-shave prison !

I have been shaving with a regular blade for over 30 years and have used a norelco electric three head occasionally on weekends and was looking to find a quality shaver that is as close to a blade as I could find and boy did I find it!

I read all the reviews on the electric shavers and decided on the ES7056 and have used it for 2 months daily. I find it produces a closer (that is not a typo) shave than my blade without one nick or cut. I can shave in less than 3 minutes and have found a better shave dry rather than wet. So by the time I could have put the shaving gel on my face to use my old blade I can have a close clean shave.

I have traveled with this razor and found the charge to last for days and easy to clean without the cleaning base. It puts my old norelco and blade razor to shame, with its ease of use and close shave.
