Why You Pay Too Much Money for This Honey

by Bruguru Bruguru is a Lead on Epinions in Restaurants & Gourmet, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 50, Apr 17 '02
Pros: Delightfully pleasant brew, not to sweet.
Cons: None come to mind.
You’re paying too much for this beer. And it’s not because Anheuser-Busch, the manufacturer, is overcharging you. No, the unscrupulous scoundrel responsible for overcharging you for your beer is none other than Uncle Sam himself, who doubled the beer tax...

Sweetness all the Way

by Bryan_Carey Bryan_Carey is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Restaurants & Gourmet, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 10, Mar 14 '00
Pros: Better than most Anheuser- Busch Products
Cons: Not Enough Depth in Flavor
Honey Lager is one of the beers offered by Anheuser- Busch, as part of the Michelob Specialty Beer product lineup. Michelob started these specialty beers in 1995, most likely in response to the growing popularity of craft- brewed beer. After spending ...

Honey on a Budget...

by caconti Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, May 03 '00
Pros: Wonderfully priced attempt at microbrewery flavor...
Cons: Cloying sweetness, lacking in complexity.
I hate Michelob. So, when a friend of mine recommended that I give the relatively new Michelob Honey Lager a chance I thought he was crazy. How could I ever enjoy a bottle of macrobrewery swill? But, being ever adventurous and hungering for a new...

Honey, You're So Sweet!

by lpteague , Jan 29 '02
Pros: Complex beer with a sweet touch of honey. Unique and balanced.
Cons: Can become too sweet for some. Michelob is stingy on the hops.
Michelob Honey Lager represents the 3rd beer I've sampled from Michelob's specialty line. The first two being Michelob Black & Tan and Hefeweizen, I found this beer to be much more appealing.

Michelob Honey Lager pours to a deep...

Too much of a good thing

by AlanCrax , Apr 01 '01
Pros: Easy to find in most supermarkets
Cons: Too sweet and cloying to be pleasant
“For centuries, brewmasters have used honey as an ingredient in beer …” – so starts the advertising blurb on the Anhauser-Busch packaging which introduces this American specialty ale. I have of course reviewed at least two other ‘hard-to-find’ brews (See...

Refreshing taste!!!

by gadget_guru , Jan 10 '00
Pros: great beer! Not too expensive!
Cons: not too much bad to say.
I usually like to have a beer or two over the week ends. For a long time I never bought a single brand of beer always, I always switched from brand to brand, dark to light, you name it I probably tried it. Recently, on the way from a conference, a...

Honey I'm home

by texasjer , Sep 10 '01
Pros: Very pleasant to drink
Cons: Filling
Another fine product from the Michelob Specialty Brewing Group.

I was tempted to name this review, "What? No Rice?" but thought better of it. Yep, this is a Michelob product that consists solely of barley, hops, honey, and yeast. Now, if I...

Is this beer?

by shelxland , Feb 06 '00
Pros: Good flavor, easy to drink.
Cons: Hard to find in Wyoming
Okay, let me start by saying I don't drink beer. I am a bartender and after opening 6 gazillion Bud Lights it just becomes unappealing. But I don't care for sweet drinks either like wine coolers or fruity mixed drinks. I tend to go middle of the road...

Like Honey?

by christy5w , Jun 03 '00
Pros: Sweet taste
Cons: Have to like honey
Some people think that basically all beer tastes the same. Beer is beer right? Not neccesarily people who say that don't open their horizons enough. I'm the type of person who likes to try everything i like to open myself to new things so of course...

Buy it for the girls. You can drink it, too.

by m015094 , May 21 '02
Pros: Michelob's better side. Not bad at all.
Cons: Is it too sweet? Yes.
I must say, this beer surprised me. Although Michelob introduced its specialty beer line back in 1995, I have not tried any of their "new" line until recently. Amber Bock, Black and Tan, and Honey Lager are the styles offered at stores in Florida...

Michelob Honey Lager

by akamystic , Apr 18 '01
Pros: Goes down smooth, nice sweet flavor
Cons: Too much sweet after a few too many
When I first tried Michelob Honey Lager, I had to stop and think for a few moments. The sweet taste hit me rather quickly. I was not expecting it to be that sweet. However, once I sipped on it for a few more minutes to let my taste buds get in...

Michelob Honey Lager is very pleasing
by mjdart ,Aug 17 '07
Pros: Very tasty and fresh
Cons: None, if you like this style, may be hard to find
First off you have to like this style of beer. I am a fan of JW Dundee's Honey Brown brewed in Rochester New Yorks High Falls Brewery. I spotted this Michelob offering in a Sprit's Superstore in Boca Raton. It was one of several six packs I selected to try. If you like a sweeter style of beer with a refreshing taste this is a must try. I also found the $5 six pack price very fair.

Michelob Honey Lager
by gjb01 ,Aug 11 '07
Pros: Excellent flavor and body. Excellent cost.
Cons: Not available in a dark brew or on tap in this area.
This is one of the finest domestic beers in the US. As far as flavor it cannot be beat by even some of the finer German Imports. It is priced very well and quite reasonably compared with any import or domestic beer. I enjoy it alone and with meals as well as any beer available.
If you are going to buy a higher priced import try Honey Lager first and you will be happy with the taste and body of this excellent brew. The beer is usually available at any outlet and all liquor stores in the fine wine and beer sections. It is usually available cold and in six pack lots, I've never seen it in case lots are hot. This brew is not available in a dark brew and I don't know if it is suitable for dark brewing. This makes it somewhat harder for it to compete with dark brews if they are your favorites.
