Pros: No scooping, A flush of the toilet removes waste from the house. Cons: High track litter; stench; disgusting cleaning process.
1. The litter is everywhere in the house no matter how often you sweep. I find it in the couch, in my bed, in the dog's bed. You can't walk barefoot in the house without it getting stuck to your foot. This litter finds its way into everything. 2. ...
Pros: None Cons: Unreliable - More work/much more expensive than just keeping the regular old litter box
I purchased the full Cat Genie package for $400.00 at the first of this year (2008) and managed to get my three younger cats to use it 90% of the time only after switching to the unscented Sanisolution and going through a big hassle to return and get my ...
Pros: What is better than not having to clean the litter box? Cons: VERY loud when cleaning, and refills are a bit costly.
We bought the LitterFree cat box after LOTS of research and consideration, even interviewing current owners, so we were very well-informed. We have owned one for 3 years now, and absolutely LOVE it! It didn't take long to connect at all (no flash ...
Pros: You only have to think about the litterbox once a month. Cons: Expensive, not great for multiple cat households.
After a long, painful experience with the Litter Maid, I was afraid to try the Litterfree. Sure, the demonstration video on their website looks great, but what if I get stuck with a $300 mistake? After using it for about a year or so, some thoughts:...
Litter Free, actually we kind of like it by sleerichie ,Feb 22 '06
Pros: Less scooping and better smell overall. Cons: Not every cat will use it and it is a little pricey.
We have had our Litter Free for three years plus now, and we rather like it. I do cat rescue and the only problem is that not all cats will use it because of he strange beads at the bottom rather than nice, sandy litter. Some cats are afraid of the noise it makes when it cleans itself. I would say a full fifty percent of the MANY cats that have come through our house have used it. So you have to decide whether the price is worth it to you. Having to clean ten or more litter boxes every day gets very old, so not having to do it just fifty percent as much is a plus. The hardest thing currently is finding the refills for the cleaning solution. I would be quite happy if more places would carry the stuff. I tried mixing my own to no avail.
So you have to decide if the price is worth the risk of your cat using it. And it is not that hard to hook up and makes your bathroom smell really good.
Upgrade to the Litter Free about to be released! by cra23954 ,Jan 28 '06
Pros: No more cleaning and scooping cat poop Cons: Noisy, blows smells, some cats might not want to use it
The company is now finally able to release their upgrade to the Litter Free! It's called the Cat Genie. It now uses litter that's more like real cat litter, and it's much quieter. It also doesn't blow cat poop smells all over the place!
Check catgenie.com for details. You can reserve one now and get it for $200 instead of $300 when it comes out. And if you currently own a Litter Free, you can get another $50 off and get it for $150.
I've had an original Litter Free for five years and couldn't be happier. Some people have cats who are scared of it, but I was lucky with my cat and he used it with no problems from day 1.
Pros: Good concept, would be great if only it worked well Cons: Pain to hook up. If something goes wrong, it's a big and difficult mess
My fiance bought me this box in 2003, to replace my LitterMaid. It was a pain to hook up, as we had to get a special plumbing connector. It worked fine at first, but the cable started leaking, so we had to buy plumber's tape to seal it. Then after a few weeks, it completely stopped disintegrating the waste, and created a terrible smell. While I was trying to fix it, it overflowed all over my entire bathroom. I called the company and they said they would send me a new unit, which they did. We hooked up the new unit, but it was a complete dud, and did not work at all. I threw it away and am back to the LitterMaid.
I love my litter free cat box and so does my cat by imatwin2 ,Aug 23 '05
Pros: Never to clean a litter box again! Cons: The room doesn't smell to good while the machine is running.
I have had my litter free cat box for about 3 years. It has been a pleasure that I don't have to clean out the litter box anymore. My cat hasn't had a problem using the cat box. I agree that the cat box was expensive to purchase however, it is now well worth the money.
