I like to cook and think I do all right. I enjoy trying new recipes have several cook books. None of those cookbooks are by Julia Child, though I do sort of remember seeing bits of her cooking show years ago. When I first heard about ...
Pros: Streep (especially), Tucci, Lynch, Adams Cons: Powell segments pale to Child segments; movie runs a bit long
They were two women who never met, yet they did hear of one another. The older of the two found a career niche as a chef of French cuisine. The younger of the two decided to try preparing every one of the recipes from a famed book co-written by the older ...
Pros: moving double-portrait adapted from two different memoirs Cons: I can't think of any.
I don’t know what to say.Julia Child was ninety-one years old when she died, late yesterday, in her sleep. It’s the death that all of us want, after a life so full it would seem she was one of history’s true ...
Pros: Fun movie, great performance by Meryl Streep, Julia Child. Cons: None.
I do not have the chance to see a movie while it is still in theaters very often, so I was very glad that as my mother-in-law's birthday approached, so did the opening of a movie that I knew that she would want to see. As part of her birthday ...
One of the best films of 2009 is Julie & Julia, starring Meryl Streep and Amy Adams. Women will click with this flick, but men will also find it very interesting and entertaining as well. I'm not sure if those under 30 will like it as much as ...
Pros: Meryl Streep knocks it out of the park again. Cons: The "modern" half of the film is just not all that great.
Meryl Streep is amazing. I know this is hardly a revelation to anyone…but just when you think you appreciate Streep at the right level…she pulls off a performance like the one she gives in JULIE & JULIA. Don’t get me ...
Pros: The food, the food, the food... Cons: More food, more food, more food...
In 1945, Julia Childs moved to France with her husband, and she felt in love with French cuisine. She began taking cooking classes and later published a book (or two) on French cooking...
Pros: Meryl Streep nails her portrayal of Julia Child. Cons: The many minor roles which were the film's main downfall.

Pros: Julia Child was one the greatest cooks in the world. Cons: At times, the movie drifted and made things a bit confusing.
I recently went to see Julie & Julia at the movie theater and thoroughly entertained. I enjoyed this movie very much and it held my interest throughout the whole movie. Meryl Streep was simply amazing as Julia Child. She had her mannerisms, the way ...
Pros: watching the magic between Streep and Tucci Cons: putting up with the necessary exposition
Streep and Tucci dance throughout the Julia part of this movie and enchant us all over again with their brilliance. Julia and Paul Child were indeed stars in their fields and in their era, and the film delightfully shows us why. Too bad Joe McCarthy doesn't get more insults, but the point is to showcase the Childs, not the Fifties. The modern half is less vital but a solid effort, diluted as it is by the blog/facebook/text/tweet crap that we're drowning in. Still, a good effort.
