We bought this vacuum after comparison shopping for a while, I REALLY wanted a Dyson but we just couldn't afford it. The Hoover model seemed to fit the bill, same cyclonic action and a cool, modern look. The only disappointment was that it didn't come with HEPA filtration. We've had it for about a year now and are generally happy with it. It has great suction even when the cup is getting full. The hose is a little too short for my liking but you can get around that by using the extension hoses, but it does make vacuuming stairs a little difficult. I've noticed the hose also seems to stretch over time and doesn't spring back together, making it slip off the holder easily. It also tips over easily when using with the hose. The dirt cup is easy to empty, dog hair sometimes clings to the center cone and has to be pulled off but it's no worse than any other bagless vacuum I've tried. I would recommend this for someone looking for a dependable vacuum at a good price.

This vacuum is great. I filled the canister with dirt,dust and dog hair the first time I used it. I thought my old one was doing a good job,but it wasn't. Night & day difference.
The first 2 reviews must not have the vacuum I have.(U5180-900 is what I have)It has a FULL 1 year complete warranty so if your went bad in 6 months,take it back and get a new one.
I brought it home,unpacked,attached handle,plugged it in and away I went. Easy to use and really cleans deep down dirt that my old vacuum didn't touch.It was easy to dump canister of collected dirt.It can't get much easier.
You won't go wrong trying this one. :o)

I purchased this vacuum in August 2005 because I did not want to fork out the money for a dyson, it looked sort of cool, and I previously owned a hoover. BIG MISTAKE.

The motor on the vacuum died this February 2006. I took the vacuum to a hoover service center who told me repair time 6-10 days. Of course, there are no loaners. After a week I called to check the status, the part was back ordered. I called again March 1st, part back ordered until April 7th. Are you kidding me?

So I was left two choices, wait until April for a vacuum that did not work that great anyway or buy a Dyson (which I did). I love the Dyson. smile!!
