Pros: Inexpensive Easy to assemble Strong suction Cons: Using the cleaning tools is very messy
I just bought the Hoover Widepath Tempo vacuum sweeper a couple days ago and have used it for about 2 hours. I noticed while doing the simple assembly that one part described in the manual - the hose tube cover - was absent. I didn't think too much about ...
Pros: Jet engine like suction and value for the money. Cons: For the price... none!
Throw your Dyson out! This cheap, ugly Hoover Tempo attacks pet hair like a rabid spider monkey!! I have tried many, many vaccums from Dyson, Oreck, Rainbow, Kirby, Dirt Devil, Bissell etc. however NONE of them even come close to the overall value and ...
Pros: Easy assembly, alot of convenient features, cheap Cons: Short hose, very loud, short cord that is hard to wind
My husband and I got the Hoover U5140-900 Tempo WidePath Bagged Upright Vacuum off of our wedding gift registry a few months ago, and I have absolutely loved it so far! Assembly This vacuum was incredibly easy to put together. The ...
Pros: Great suction, Light Weight, handy accessories Cons: Short hose, Power cord is located too close to the hose difficult to wind
I was looking for another Hoover vacuum that would fit my needs, carpet, bare floors and hose attachments. After reading reviews of bagless vacuums, I decided to stick with a vacuum with a bag. The cost of the Tempo was very low for such a great ...
Pros: Inexpensive. Bagged convenience. Good on rugs and carpets. Handy tool storage. Maneuverable. Cons: Earsplitting noise level. Tupperware-like build quality. So-so performance on bare floors.
What’s the big deal about vacuums? So many models from which to choose. And the prices! Why, I wondered, should I spend hundreds when I can get a Hoover Tempo Widepath for $69 at Best Buy? Considering the number of reviews this model has already ...
Pros: low price, powerful, indicator light when bag is full Cons: none
I was not on the market for a vacuum but I was reading about Hoover U5140 - 900 Tempo Widepath Bagged, on sale at Amazon.com for $49 and free shipping and I thought for that price I should give it a try . Boy oh boy I'm glad I did . This vacuum is got a ...
Pros: This is an incredibly affordable machine, if you don't have a lot of heavy vacuuming. Cons: This is not a heavy duty vacuum. It clogs easy and isn't easy to empty.
I had to have a vacuum because my expensive Electrolux blew up. I thought if I had to purchase a vacuum every few years I would go with a less expensive vacuum so I could purchase one every few years if it quit working. It was a good plan but one that I ...
Pros: Doesn't leave any debris behind and is priced very low for the quality you get Cons: The hose could be a little longer
This vacuum got a good review in consumer reports, and they were right on. It works very well (sucks everything up), especially pet hair. I have a house full of shedding dogs and with one pass, every last hair is picked up. It also handles well (self ...
Pros: great suction, lightweight, inexpensive, Cons: short cord, can't turn agitator brush off for bare floors,
My $300 Panasonic Vacuum Cleaner needed a new motor and it was not worth having repaired. I researched Vacuum Cleaners for two weeks and the Hoover U5140-900 Tempo Widepath Bagged Upright Vacuum kept coming up as highly recommended. I was not really ...
Pros: strong vacuum, complete basic accessories, low cost Cons: 20' power cord, short stiffer vac hose, poor hose routing, agitator always on
For an executive summary, read only the bolded sentences. Bag or Bagless? Before we even begin, for home use I'd never consider a bagless. Anyone who has owned a Dustbuster or its clones know emptying its small canister scatters dust, and ...
Pros: Has good suction. Works well on carpet. Bags are inexpensive. Cons: Hose isn't long enough, hoses & attachments don't lock, does not work well on hard floors.
I purchased the Tempo Upright because I wanted an inexpensive vacuum to clean my small house which has very little carpet. I have had this vacuum less than 2 years and I HATE it. It makes me incredibly angry, as if vacuuming wasn't irritating enough, I ...
Warranty claim process is a nightmare - stay away by tchan ,Sep 24 '09
Pros: Cheap. Light weight. Cons: Failed after on month. Hoover will not honor their warranty. Stay away.
Bought vacuum in December 2008. Vacuum worked fine for a little bit and then the motor started to slow down. It eventually stopped altogether. I had to unplug it for a little while before it would work again. Could not vacuum whole house without unplugging it several times. Sent vacuum at my expense to service center listed on Hoover's website in January 2009. I've been waiting for a response ever since. In March and April 2009, the service center said my vacuum had been repaired, but they had to be reimbursed first from Hoover before they sent my vacuum back to me. Now the service center doesn't return any calls or answer their phone. After I called Hoover customer service, they said I had to take it up with the service center even though the service center is listed on Hoover's website. Hoover's warranty and customer service are amazingly poor.
Pros: The bag is easy to change. Cons: Especially horrible on pet hair, will ball it up but not take it away.
I am baffled at the high ratings I see for this vacuum, especially from Consumer Reports, which was one of the reasons I bought it. It agitates so hard, it abrades carpet and rug fibers, leaving what looks like dust bunnies all over the carpet, then spews every bit of dirt, leaf or pebble out the back. Even with repeated passes you cannot pick everything up. This is the only vacuum I've ever used where the carpet looks worse after you vacuum than it did before. Seriously, save your money.
Pros: Great suction, light weight, takes regular bags Cons: wish cord was longer
I just got one of these as our third vacuum. I read the reviews and found it at Best Buy for $62--a steal! It's really nice. We have a high end Eureka canister and an electrolux canister. It's light and does a very nice job.
Pros: Efficient, cost effective, compact, and excellent on pet hair. Cons: On/off switch not on the handle.
We had new whole house carpet installed and wanted to help maintain our investment. We've never been impressed with our Oreck, or the Kirby before it. Dyson, Electrolux, etc. are awfully proud of their products (pricey). I read some very positive consumer reviews and comparisons on the Hoover U5140. While we've had our unit only a few weeks, for the money, it has been a joy. Our yellow lab is a chronic shedder and this unit is meticulous when it comes to picking up pet hair. It's powerful suction stands carpet pile upright and it pretty much drives itself, requiring little effort to maneuver. It's heavier than the Oreck, but much lighter and manageable than our old Kirby and many others on the market. The cord hook near the handle is a helpful addition. Complaints about cord and hose lengths are legitimate, but tolerable. Issues with not being able to disable the agitator for smooth floors are trifling. I, for one, would have liked to see the on/off switch on the handle, not on the bag housing. But for basic, overall performance and price it's a keeper.
