Fisher-Price Take Along Swing - Take it back PLEASE!

by Mininut Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Sep 25 '06
Pros: Easy to clean, portable
Cons: Not very portable, battery hog, to low to the floor, expensive
My fantasy When my oldest child was born I had the big hand crank swing and it was great if you didn’t count the endless running back and forth to crank that sucker every 15 minutes. Then one day while pregnant with my second child I saw the ...

Who's it really for, mom or baby?!

by Annie_Crane Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Apr 10 '04
Pros: small, colorful, musical, 8 different speeds
Cons: heavy, bulky, costly,
Lights, music, let’s swing! This colorful, musical, portable, ocean dreamland is a unique piece of equipment compared to several years ago when all we had were the hand cranked swings that stood four feet tall and make a terrible wracking noise ...

Swing Along

by TxMommy929 , Apr 13 '04
Pros: relatively quiet, SO cute, soothing, rocking, portable, music, lights, action
Cons: NOT compact, toys don't reach mouth or remove for washing, p.16 of instructions, cradle-less
The Fisher Price Ocean Wonders line has been a big hit, and while this swing is not officially part of that line, it clearly was inspired by same. This swing stands under 3 feet off the ground and folds up in order to be portable. It follows the fish ...

Not all that easy to "take along!"

by mjtriplett Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Aug 08 '06
Pros: Space-saver, inexpensive.
Cons: Not portable, "extras" are essentially useless
This is the only swing we purchased for our baby due to being pressed for space in a small townhome-sized living room. If I were to go back and do it again, I would purchase a full sized swing instead. The Swing itself The Fisher Price ...

have baby, will travel

by mom2emma , Jan 16 '07
Pros: much more versatile than a full size swing
Cons: some kids prefer the cradle type swing you get from the full size
As the mother of 4 at a 10˝ year age gap there are quite a few places baby has to go. Even when we are home we live in a 2 story house on an acre in the south (in other words we are outside year round). My point? One large swing probably doesn't cover ...

Fisher-Price Aquarium Take-Along Swing

by rysmum , Apr 04 '07
Pros: Easy to fold up and store; different sound and rocker levels, belt
Cons: Battery compartment is above the child's head, not a good location.
This was a gift for us, although I did have it listed on my baby shower list. My husband and I wanted something lightweight and portable for when we visited friends and family. Our little guy couldn't and still can't lay flat on his back to sleep. ...

A Lifesaver, But Some Quirks

by jhereg10 , May 17 '04
Pros: IT WORKS! Quiet, regular rhythmic motion, soothing, secure.
Cons: Eerie music, power consumption (batteries only, no plug-in option).
Was received as a gift, so the cost/value relationship is kinda moot for us. We have found that with our newborn, it is one of the few guaranteed ways to relax her and ensure several hours of nap during the day. We've tried other things such as ...

You can find a better swing

by erica712 , Sep 23 '06
Pros: It looks good, fairly portable, seat cover is easily washable
Cons: Poorly designed: baby sits in awkward position, can't reach toys, or see lights, overpriced
I own both this take along swing and the full sized Aquarium swing. I recommend getting the full size swing and forgetting this one. You can find a better take along bouncer or swing. The worst thing about this swing is that it makes the baby sit in a ...

I love this Swing
by onlyonehilly ,Jan 24 '07
Pros: You can carry it from room to room with baby strapped in.
Cons: It is hard on the back to get baby in and out.
This swing has been the best for my daughter. I bought her a more expensive full size swing and she hated it. It was the kind where it swings side to side, and then front and back. I went to a friends house where she tried this one out, she loved it. The lights keep her entertained and the music calms her down. I use this even without the swing in motion because she just likes the lights so much. I went and purchased this swing and she uses it all the time. I like how the seat sits low to the ground. I wish I had bought this the first time. I suggest this to anyone. It is small and great to take along. I take this to friends house or family dinners. An overall Great product.

A good swing for a small home
by opheliamb ,Jul 05 '05
Pros: Compact good light show feature
Cons: Very little speed variation
This swing is definatly more compact than the other swings on the market.
The speeds on the swing have very little variation. The slowest speed is pretty fast and the fast is even faster.
The music is decent and there are a lot of different songs. The lights were a great feature for my child who liked sitting in the swing with the swing off and just watching the lights. It does fold up but is not as compact as it should be. IT takes 4 C batteries which seem to drain pretty quickly.
The seat is comfortable and easy to wash.
I would have gotten another swing but we only have 900 square feet and space is an issue.

Not as good as it looks!
by daisymadison ,May 19 '06
Pros: It has cool light shows for the baby.
Cons: doesn't swing fast at all.
We bought this swing for our second son, who was born 3.5 months premature. I couldn't wait to get it, but was highly disappointed. No matter how many times we tried it, it only swung very slowly, even though it supposedly had 8 speeds. They all seemed to be the same, and this was brand new! It did play cool music, but only lit up for a short time and then the baby was mad that the lights stopped.

Perfect for me!
by lynseyrenee ,Mar 14 '07
Pros: Perfect if you have a small home
Cons: Doesn't rock as fast as I wish it would, but it's still ok
My apartment is about the size of a postage stamp, so a full-size swing would have been one more thing to trip over. This swing has been a great solution for me! Plus, it was the ONLY way to get my baby to nap from about 2 months until about 5 months. If I put him anywhere but in this, he would wake up in under 5 minutes. It's great to take this over to my parents house if I need to, and the music is a lot less annoying than on some other swings I've encountered. Love the ocean theme, and my baby loves the lights too (especially in a dark room -- he was absolutely AMAZED the first few times).

Battery Eater?? Or Bad Motor?
by lcdfam95 ,Apr 27 '06
Pros: Portable.
Cons: Doesn't last longer than 5 minutes on highest setting.
I received this as a gift. I thought is was cute at first. Then after 4 days the batteries were dead (I just bought them). I then put in another 2 sets and after 5 minutes my daughter (9 lbs) was no longer swinging on level 8!!! Call FP, they want the seat and front rail back and they are going to replace. Will update when new one received.

Take it along
by mommieta2 ,Mar 26 '07
Pros: 8 different speed setting, lights, sounds, toys
Cons: low to the ground, seat doesn't recline back
I use this swing all the time for trips. For me it is easy to take along!!! It folds up. I take it on trips, to the sitter, where ever!!If I take it outside, my son loves sitting there swinging. It is easy to take out, and he can sit in it while me and my older son do fun things outside. I haven;t had to replace the batteries in mine yet, and my son is 7 months old. He loves the lights, colors, and the toys he can pull on!! It isn't as good as a bigger swing, but it is good for trips!! It sits kind of low to the ground, but I think most travel swings do. They aren't intended for all the time use. I love the aquarium products by fisher-price. It has like 8 different speed settings, and the lights and sounds are great. The safety belt on it is like most, but it has a little fish on it that the kids can play with. There is really good padding in the chair. I would recommend this swing to anybody who takes a lot of trips, or whose child goes to a sitter!!

Just Okay Swing
by amys40 ,Apr 19 '06
Pros: Smaller than regular swing, portable for trips, etc.
Cons: Toys are not reachable, swings too fast, baby seems uninterested, music just okay.
It's smaller than a regular swing and portable which is why I bought it. After 3 months of use, I would say it is just average. The toys are way too far for baby to reach and put in mouth. My 3 month is getting frustrated with that. She swings at the toys, but can't reach them. Music is okay, swing speed is too fast even on the slowest speed. The fish in the water part don't do anything and the baby doesn't seem to know they are there.
