Pros: Will grind beans in an emergency, say, as when you're under a vampire attack. Cons: The noise it makes will wake the dead resulting in said vampire attack.
In the Quentin Tarantino screenplay “From Dusk till Dawn” the Fuller family joins forces with two bank robbers in an attempt to survive a night in a joint whose employees just happen to be blood-sucking vampires. No, the joint is not a ...

Just enough for the am
by mjb2055 ,Jul 01 '08
Pros: Time saver Cons: Would prefer the model in black to match my kitchen
I picked one up at GW for about $3.00. After reading the reviews about the poor grinding for espresso, I decided to keep my manual Braun for the espresso, while using this for the am, where quick prep was more important. For that purpose it has worked fine: I can slide around the kitchen, while the automatic grinding on the DeLonghi goes thru its paces saving me the 20 or so seconds I don't have to spend standing and holding the unit.
I haven't tried it for espresso. I continue to use the Braun manual grinder for my espresso, when I have more time to devote to my coffee making.
In sum, for me the DeLonghi works fine for my morning brew, when fine grind is not a concern.

Not Great
by bhicks331 ,Apr 17 '06
Pros: None Cons: Noisy, messy, expensive.
Does not grind evenly. Makes fine coffee bean dust, which makes the coffee murky at the bottom of the pot. Noisy too. The collection cup broke when dropped on the floor and I could not find a replacement cup, so had to replace the whole unit. I did not buy another one of these!

This Grinder Is Worthless
by oldcoffeenerd ,Jan 03 '06
Pros: Price Cons: Dust!! Mess!! Bad Coffee
I purchased this grinder at Costco about 3 years ago because I didn't want to use a blade grinder and had heard that a burr grinder was better. I had looked up prices for burr grinders and found them more than 10x the typical cost for a blade grinder. Then along came this model Delonge for about $26.95. So I bought it. Let this be a warning: the grind has a high percentage of dust no matter where you set it. I use the coarsest grind for drip coffee making to reduce this effect but still have both dust and chunks. There is a problem of the dust sticking to the catch reservoir, especially for the more oily beans. I find dust gets all over the counter when I pound the reservoir on my filter unit. This may be from static charge, I'm not sure. Save your money and use the grinders in the store where you buy your beans. You'll get a better grind.
