Pros: Teeth look naturally clean and white, not supernaturally white! Cons: Hard to talk while the strips are in place, and try not to sneeze!
I really think this is a great product. I've not experienced any pain or hassle with it. The results are natural looking, not the glow in the dark, silvery white look that often results from dental bleaching. My teeth look and feel cleaner than they have in years. I found it easy to apply both the upper and lower strips. The only negatives are that it is not easy to talk while they're in your mouth and they can fly out of your mouth if you sneeze! I really don't know why it causes some people so much pain--I've always had fairly sensitive teeth and a tendency towards canker sores, but this product has been totally pain-free for me.
Pros: noticeable whitening after one 30 minute application. Cons: The Strips are not comfortable to wear
I used these strips hoping that in the 3 days I would notice a difference. I was completely thrilled to see a difference with one application! There was no doubt they lifted a shade with the one 30 minute application. I am on my second day only and had to write a review on these! I love them. The first application I was producing way too much saliva and it was a bit awkward and I was wondering if I could stand the whole 30 minutes, but I found out the trick is to just keep your mouth open a bit and its hard to explain but sucking in the saliva keeps the strips dry and once I did that the second time I had no problems with saliva.
UPDATE: On the 4th day my gums were a bit irritated and sensitive when I would put a new strip on or brush my teeth, so I skipped a day like the directions say. Then I plan to do it only once a day. I think the whiteness of the teeth are worth the minor discomfort!
Pros: Effective, easy to use and much less expensive than having your teeth professionally whitened. Cons: Initially, gum irritation, but not severe enough to discontinue usage.
Crest Whitening Strips are wonderful. After about 7 days I notice a nice difference in my teeth. My husband made a cute comment last night and said "those are just like buying new ones!" He has also asked me to purchase him a box. I have read the reviews and one of the cons, not staying on well, can be avoided. I simply brush my teeth and dry them with a rag before I use the strips. This helps them stay on much better. I am not a smoker and I do not drink coffee so I cannot say if it is effective enough for people who do. I do, however drink soda and tea and the yellowing from these has markedly decreased from the strips. The product is a little "goopy" and at first it caused some gum irritation, but if you look at the amount of money saved over having your teeth professionally whitened, it is really no big deal! I simply brush my teeth after the application (about 30 minutes) is over. I highly recommend this easy to use product!
With pain comes beauty by cyberberries ,Jan 02 '09
Pros: price is totally affordable, whiten teeth VERY well Cons: a whole lot of pain...but being beautiful is painful
I like the strips. Don't get me wrong, they do hurt. I've never had sensitive teeth, but I think I do now.The only painful thing is taking a DEEP breath in through your mouth while your strips are in...or immediately after you've taken them out. Easy solution? Breath in through your nose...it's calming anyways. Most of the time I'm drooling so much that I just lay back and read a book for 30 minutes so that all my drool just runs down my throat as opposed to drooling all over myself. I've never had braces before either however I think I know how it would feel to try and talk with them in...I'd be a mute! Not only is it hard to talk but you're taking the chance of looking like a moron with drool running down your face. Hey, 30 minutes of complete silence is a-okay with me though! Overall I like them. They're doing exactly what I bought them to do. So, when I return to the states from Korea...my teeth will be white and nobody will know that I've just spent the last year smoking and drinking coffee!
lightening fast whitening that hurts! by engk916 ,Jul 02 '07
Pros: fast acting bleach for quick results Cons: expensive, a bit more discomfort that the regular whitestrips
i used to use the regular crest whitestrips and was pleased with the results. however, i'm not the patient type so i thought i'd give the new premium strips a shot. i used to see mediocre results using the regular whitestrips and was shocked at how quickly the new premium strips worked.
other reviewers talk about the pain, but in my opinion, as soon as you're doing something medically unnecessary for the sake of having whiter teeth, all bets are off. the premium strips work very quickly - my normally unobservant husband noticed after the 4th day of strip use. i drink 2 large cups of black coffee a day, and these strips made a huge difference. the bleaching process is by no means pleasant, but i'll take short-duration/higher intensity over a longer-duration/lower intensity product any day. i still have some strips left over if i find my teeth are getting stained again, but so far it's great. the initial sensitivity went away in a day or so and i was left with nice white teeth.
Pros: Easy to use; use at your own schedule; price is not bad $30 Cons: None other than trying to talk with strips in!
I purchased the white strips premium package. In addition to the strips, I received a toothbrush and toothpaste. I used the product as described, sometimes combining two sessions back to back. I am very pleased with the results in that my teeth are whiter. I have one more session left, but I have already achieved the results I was looking for.
Pros: Cheaper than professional whitening. Excellent results that everyone noticed. Easy to use. Cons: I experienced pain while wearing the strips.
I tried Crest Whitestrips because I wanted to see if they really worked. THEY DO! On the flipside, I did experience pain during and after wearing the strips. Sometimes the pain lasted for hours. I found that taking Motrin helped. I would rate the pain at a level 4 (1 being no pain and 10 being unbearable). I was a trooper and finished the whole box despite the pain and I am glad I did. I figured, for someone who endures the pain of waxing, plucking, and every other painful event a woman takes on in the name of beauty, I could handle seven days of discomfort. It's worth it, trust me. So if you try them and find that you are sensitive, keep your chin up and the Motrin handy and keep on truckin! You will be glad you did. Promise :-)
A great way to get a bright smile! by danakscully64 ,Oct 25 '04
Pros: Works great and inexpensive! Cons: Tooth Sensitivity and doesn't cover all teeth.
I first started using the regular Whitestrips and was very pleased with them. Once the Premiums came out, I ran out and bought some. I've used more than 3 boxes and absolutely love them. I have only 2 issues with them: they leave my teeth very sensitive and they only bleach the front of my teeth. Any teeth bleaching system will leave your teeth sensitive, so that's understandable. After a couple days of using them, I got tons of compliments from co-workers and family. I would recommend them to anyone who wants a bright smile.
Not a scam, My teeth look GREAT! by emle1183 ,Aug 17 '05
Pros: truly whitens your teeth, really easy to use, not time consuming Cons: They don't stay on as securely as you would want
This product was my savior! I would never be able to afford professional whitening at the dentist, but desperately wanted to freshen up my teeth. I had dental work when I was younger and my teeth were still glowing with the aftermath of them. I needed help. I am always very skeptical of things like this, but I was desperate. After a few days I could already see a drastic difference. I ended up using two packages back to back to get the best coloring I could. Now I'm addicted! I use whitestrips once a year now. My teeth look great and I love all the compliments!
Pros: Fast whitening, hassle-free Cons: Small bottom strip, spotty results, expensive
I have not even finished my 7 days of Crest Whitestrips Premium, and my teeth are already noticeably whiter. They are not bleaching evenly, though, so it might be a good idea to finish off with a less expensive 14 day or something later. I don't know if it's normal for it to be a bit spotty or if this wears off after a while. Also, I don't know if I'm supposed to quit coffee and dark soda! But this definitely works! I would suggest using a toothpaste for sensitive teeth while using these, even if you follow the directions and don't brush before using.
Just started but I like them... by princessboo ,Nov 17 '06
Pros: Produces noticeable results quickly Cons: The strips need to form better to your teeth
My husband is coming home from a 6 month deployment overseas with the Marine Corps and I thought it would be nice to have a beautiful smile when he gets home. I went through 4 years of braces as a kid and it's just kind of an obsession with me about my teeth. I bought these strips and yes it is a little pricey for an over the counter product but my dentist recommended them and so far it's working. I can see a noticeable difference in the shade of my teeth in 4 days. One of the bad things about it is how bad it hurts my teeth and gums even if I don't brush immediately before putting them on. They also slide a lot and don't want to stay in place if you try to talk just a little. But if you have enough down time to just sit and watch TV, which I do (My husband isn't home yet) then they work great and I would recommend them.
After seeing tv ad after ad, and always having a desire for whiter teeth (I always use toothpaste with whitening) I decided to get the Premium strips. I am currently writing this with a mouth full of pain. I have completed 2 days of the strips and I just went online to see if I could find anyone else who had experienced what I am experiencing. Thank goodness I came across these reviews for I see I am NOT the only one! I am very scared to continue using these strips for fear of the pain being worse after day 3. I just don't know at this point if it's worth it. I have downed about 6 tablets of Advil and I still am in pain! I never considered myself to have sensitive teeth so didn't think I'd have much of a problem using these. At this point, sparkling white teeth just doesn't seem worth it...
A far better alternative is available. by robertcooper ,Feb 18 '06
Pros: Easier to use than trays. Cons: Too flimsy, don't always adhere to teeth, inconvenient to have to remove.
When I used these strips, I found that they were too flimsy, and therefore tended to bend back over themselves, making them difficult to apply. After they were applied to the teeth, they did not always stay in place and tended to slide around. Also, it is inconvenient to have to remove the strips, when they have done their work. For these reasons, I do not consider them to be the best alternative. A much better alternative is the dissolving whitening strips manufactured and distributed by CVS Pharmacy, Inc. These strips are less flimsy/ more firm and therefore dont stick onto themselves, they adhere to your teeth far better; AND they dissolve completely in about 5-7 minutes, leaving no messy residue or plastic film to have to discard. On size strip (larger than Crests) fits both upper and lower teeth. The active ingredients are the same as Crest, but the cost is about half the cost of Crest. Superior to Crest in every way.
I tried this based on reviews that I read on the internet saying that this was the best product for the money. It was pricey - $32 at the grocery store. But I figured that it's better than what the dentist charges. Anyway, I immediately noticed that the taste made me sick to my stomach. I got somewhat used to it, but it's only tolerable if I spit instead of swallow (gross, I know). The taste still makes me nauseated, but I'm tolerating it for the sake of whiter teeth. I did notice some whitening after 2-3 days. I'm on day 4 now.
I've used the strips twice over a twenty-four hour period and my teeth feel like I've sunk them into a bowl of ice cream! ESPECIALLY my lower teeth! This is worse than the stuff my dentist gave me! On the upside, my teeth are slightly whiter already. I will probably use the strips again when the burning/tingling feeling goes away, but only once a day (or less) instead of twice. Although application is easy, the strips are pretty goopy and make my mouth water like crazy. I can't wait to remove them once the 30 minutes is up. Aaaah, what we'll do for the sake of beauty....
Worked okay for two days by Windywords ,Mar 26 '05
Pros: Gave me results right away but unable to continue after 2 days. Cons: Slippin' and a slidin' strips. Expensive $25.00 for limited results.
After a recent visit to a new dentist who does cosmetic whitening, I decided to give the Crest Whitestrips a try out of sheer curiousity. My teeth were a little dull from all my tea and red wine drinking.
For the first two days, the strips stayed on my upper and lower teeth relatively well. Laying in bed and watching tv is about all you can do for 1/2 hour with these things in your mouth. Talking would only cause excessive salivation and shifting of strips.
On the third day, both the top and bottom strip immediately began to slip off my teeth. I gave it another try later in the day and got the same result. Today, I tried the upper teeth for a third time and nothing will keep the upper strip on my teeth for more than a minute.
I am very disappointed and started seeing results but now I am at the end of the road with my $25.00 package of white strips. I have an email into Proctor and Gamble about this. I would like a full refund of my money or coupons for other Crest products as compensation.
Not impressed. I wasted money. by khopek ,Mar 13 '07
Pros: cheaper than dentist, top strips stay in place. Cons: Bottom strips don't stay on, can't talk with them in, no results.
I bought Crest Whitestrips Premium a month and a half ago. Used as directed. Results were not noticeable. My top teeth looked a little whiter than the bottom because I could not get the bottom strips to stay on correctly.
I then purchase Crest Whitestrips Supreme, which is only available through a dentist because it contains 14% Hydrogen Peroxide. You are supposed to use these for 21 days straight. I decided to just do my top teeth and then I would do my bottom once I finished the 21 days of top teeth. I just finished my 21st day 3 days ago and there is absolutely no difference between my top teeth and bottom teeth.
I spent $75 total on Whitestrips and it was the biggest waste of money I have ever spent. I might as well have gone to my dentist and paid the $200 to get at home whitening from them. At least then I would have the results I wanted.
Pros: I guess they whiten your teeth. Cons: PAIN. The tooth sensitivity feels like ELECTRIC shocks in your teeth!!
Do not use these. The tooth sensitivity feels like ELECTRIC shocks in your teeth!! I can't imagine whiter teeth are worth this--even after one wearing for 30 minutes--I will never use them again!
Gave me tons of tooth pain by celesta2007 ,Oct 15 '08
Pros: The strips were convenient in use. Easy application, and they did not slide around. Cons: Pain. I mean, PAIN!!!
Got Whitestrips this weekend after a friend recommended them over a visit to expensive dentist. After I was done with the first application, I grabbed a warm cup of tea and immediately got a pain that made me jump to the ceiling. Although, it was gone in a few minutes. A day later, I applied the strips for a second time. It was ok. But as soon as I went to sleep, I got a cruciating tooth pain (or gum pain, since I am not a doctor). It is acute and is not going anywhere for a few hours. I woke up at night several times, and ended up taking Tylenol as I write these words. I am not going to apply strips any more, even if I am given 100% proof they do the whitening work.
Mind it, I do not have any cavities or known problems with my teeth. I even have no clue right now what causes this pain, it is just there everywhere in the frontal part of my lower gum.
Pros: easy to use Cons: Pain was horrible and the bottom strip was too short and would not stay put.
I was very excited about buying this product after I read a positive review in a beauty magazine that I subscribe to. However, I had horrible, shooting pains when I used the product. The shooting pains would stop if I took the product off of my teeth, but then I was left with teeth that were extremely sensitive. It hurt just to open my mouth because air would touch my teeth and hurt-not to mention that I couldn't eat anything sweet, drink anything cold, etc. After four attempts, I had to stop using the product; the pain was too much and it lasted for two weeks! It feels like I have cavities in my mouth now!
Pros: Easy to use Cons: Didn't work for me, taste was bad.
I bought the Crest whitestrips Premium where you whiten in just 7 days instead of 14. I was excited when I bought the product but now my 7 days are up and I don't notice that my teeth are any whiter. And it was an unpleasant taste if the gel was accidentally swallowed. It almost seems as most of the gel was swallowed instead of on my teeth. Overall I am unsatisfied with this product and intend to get my money back.
Pros: whitens your teeth Cons: major tooth sensitivity
I can't sleep now cause my teeth hurt so much. I've been using premium crest strips once a week and oh boy this stuff is really strong. It'll get your teeth whitened but the pain is just unbearable. My teeth are in so much pain right now from the sensitivity I can't even fall asleep. I understand no pain no gain deal but I don't think I can ever use another whitestrip again. This is worse than getting out my wisdom teeth. I used sensodyne to brush my teeth tonight but it's not doing much.
I'll never use this product again! The sensitivity is just UNBEARABLE. Oouch!!!
Pros: SOME whitening Cons: PAIN, enormous amount of excruciating pain.
After using this product only 3 times, my teeth have started hurting. I used the 4th strip about an hour ago, thinking that the pain was a one time thing...I was wrong. My teeth hurt even worse now, I'm in such pain that I'm close to tears. I've never experienced toothaches or any kind of pain in my teeth until I tried this product. I'm not going to use the rest of the strips and I'm never using it again nor am I going to recommend this product to anyone. The pain is just not worth having whiter teeth when my teeth weren't even that yellow to begin with.
Big Costs With Little Results by talltam ,Jul 31 '07
Pros: Nice try Crest, but these strips are a NO GO. Cons: Yucky, gelly residue in mouth after strips are removed, Too expensive, NO results!!
After reading a majority of positive reviews of Crest White Strips, I was excited to get started...and didn't mind paying $35 bucks to do so.
Unfortunately, I did not see anything close to the amazing results a lot of people claim to get from this product. 7 days later, my teeth are the same shade. All in all, these strips were a disaster for me.
I am currently waiting to receive a refund of my money. And get this...they don't even put the address on the product. You have to call this stupid 1-800 number and press a bunch of buttons just to get the address of where to send your receipt!!
