Pros: Simple phones are still available: Customer Service is far better than reported. Cons: There ARE black (dead) spots in ALL cellular systems. Users need to learn them.
I have had/used car cell phones for nearly fifteen years. The original ones were large and 'hard wired' to the car (not portable and far too big to put in your pocket even if/when they were!) and were 'analog', resulting in good, overall, reception and ...
Pros: Nationwide free roaming, long distance and rollover. International roaming with voice and data coverage. Cons: Device stability, SPAM SMS messages, Very low volume without Volumecare add-on software.
After using my Cingular Treo for three months I wish that I had gone with Verizon Wireless. I switched jobs this year and had to purchase my own PDA/Smartphone (I was on Blackberries for the past five years). I decided to stick with Cingular because ...
Pros: They can disable Data features so you don't pay for spam or accidental internet use Cons: Two Thirds of my calls are DROPPED! Cingular's advertising is bull.
I've been with Cingular for about a year and a half using Motorola V220 phones on a 3 phone family shared minutes plan. These camera phones are nice basic units, except the ring control buttons on the side have caused it to go into silent mode on ...
Pros: slightly better than the older EDGE network Cons: Cingular doesn't let its customers use the 3G HSDPA network to anywhere near its potential.
The mobile phone data and voice technology used by Cingular (AT&T) is also known as HSDPA or 3G GSM. This so-called third-generation of the GSM global network is fast in theory, but Cingular doesn't let its customers use it to anywhere near its ...
Pros: Reliability, technology improvement, rollover minutes, price Cons: Customer confusion with company name
As I was reading some other reviews about Cingular Wireless, I must admit that customer confusion about identity is justified. As a previous employee for this company I greatly admire all the strides in technology advancement the company has made over ...
Pros: Special deals.
Coverage better than Sprint. Cons: Customer service fails to resolve nearly all issues on the first call.
Misleading advertising.
I've been a customer since '98. I called to cancel in '01 and was offered free SMS and Wireless Internet Access if I stayed, so I have stayed ever since. Cingular often charges me for that Internet access anyway, and getting the issue resolved is ...
Pros: Good Website. Decent coverage. Cons: Bad Business Practices.
Cingular bought out ATT last year. They then proceeded to add fees totaling 25% of my bill and cancelled my calling plan. When I canceled my service , they charged me for the next month of service since I had cancelled a few days after the billing cycle began.
The quality of the service, which was fine, cannot compensate for business practices that seem hostile and predatory to the customer.
Company has no identity, service is a joke by shouffrey ,Mar 21 '06
Pros: None come to mind Cons: Buying & Selling of companies makes dealing with them impossible.
Not to be surpassed by any other cellular carrier. Cingular, AT&T, Pacbell, SBC, Airtouch or whatever their name is. This is my 3rd web order for phone & service with this company. All of them required several calls to straighten things out. Their websites run in circles, bouncing back and forth amongst their bought and sold companies, relying on the customer to know who they last purchased their services from. Nobody knows what they're doing, save take your money; they're glad to do that, but when it comes to dishing up Alan & Touch Tone they're at a loss.
Pros: Customer Satisfaction, Rollover Cons: None so far
I've been with Cingular the new ATT when they were originally Pacific Bell, which has been since the late 90's. As a company they have evolved tremendously. I think the greatest change I've seen with Cingular is customer satisfaction. As I am reading these previous reviews I see negative customer satisfaction remarks. In my experience all you need to do is ask and you shall receive with them. I've asked for credits and with a valid reason, they've never turned me down
Also, there are areas where you will experience dropped calls and bad connection, which is expected with any cell phone carrier. You just have to know those areas. Also, with their new Unity plan connecting the biggest network along with rollover and push to talk features, with Cingular you just get more bang for your buck.
screwed me over when i terminated by farble1670 ,Apr 13 '08
Pros: adequate service Cons: incorrect information given by service reps
needing to switch service, i did diligence and called to make sure i wasn't under contract. the salesperson assured me i wasn't. then i get a $200 bill for early termination. seems when i had purchased a phone for almost full price a little less than 2 years ago and was still under contract.
did i have any recourse? of course not. i didn't record the phone conversation.
t-mobile was a fine service when i had them, but you have to think about how you'll be treated when you do eventually need to switch someday like everyone will.
Pros: Phone reception is very clear Cons: Nothing so far...
Went to a local mall recently to purchase a new cellular service. The staff at the kiosk was very friendly, we were asked what we wanted and they explained the difference between the plans. The phone service itself is very good, the past few days has been raining yet the reception was clear.
IDT America, home phone long distance service contract,,,IS TO BE AVOIDED !! by cal48boy ,Aug 25 '08
Pros: Seems cheap in ads. Cons: Will cancel a paid up monthly contract,,,without telling you,,, CALL THE FCC !!
After 'two months when you did not use our service, we canceled your contract' is what they told me when i tried to call a friend in England, but not until then by phone or mail did they tell me that they had one-sided canceled my paid up contract !!
Then they billed me,,, for 2 more months, when i had no service, since they had turned it off without the courtesy or honesty or business responsibility to tell me !!
Pros: You can call people for free who use cingular. Decent signal. Cons: Since cingular has taken over the plans are expensive.
Cingular colludes with other cell phone companies to create pricing plans that are very similiar. So, even though there are several companies to choose from you are very limited in choosing the kind of plan. I would try to go with the company that provides different kinds of plans like Sprint. When I was an AT&T customer before cingular took over, I threatened to leave when my contract ended, so they doubled my minutes per month for the same price. Not that cingular has taken over, they do not budge and keep prices high with minutes low. I tried again with cingular and told me they could not adjust my plan.
