Pros: Very fast! Very inexpensive to operate. Very nice looking.
Very nice output. Cons: Flimsy construction. "Scan" is a scam.
Horribly complex Software Setup. Allow 2-3 hours.
Canon PIXMAi MP500 "Some-In-One" Inkjet Printer ==============================
==============
Updated 1/25/2007 to add comments on INK cartridge life and the "Reality" of printing from Memory Cards without a PC. (Both comments placed at end ...
Pros: All-In-One, inexpensive, dual paper trays, multiple memory slots, speed, low priced ink. Cons: Some cheap components may break easily, no auto power on/off mode.
I am sitting here typing this review on my Dell keyboard, staring at my Dell monitor, using Microsoft Word from Dell. But not this review nor any other Epinions’ reviews will ever print again from the free Dell printer. After spending upwards of $40 a ...
Pros: Good quality with low-cost inks. Quiet. Photo-printing features. Cons: Will need dusting. No document feeder or fax.
As anyone who has ever owned an ink jet printer knows, the printers are cheap, and the ink is expensive. My last printer was an Epson CX-5200 which we paid $100 for. During the two years we used it, we spent about $30-50 a month for ink. I estimate that ...
Pros: Great quality, fast, reasonably efficient, versatile. Cons: Could be more user friendly...
You may have read my review of the Hewlett-Packard PSC-1610 all-in-one, in which I have mentioned replacing it with a Canon all-in-one machine. In either case, the printer I am presently using is this: a Canon PIXMA MP500. After having had a few ...
Pros: Print quality, cartridge price, cartridge installation, functions, reliability, easy use Cons: Heavy, 19in. deep x 17.5in. wide x 14in. tall with paper in top feeder
I have never owned a printer that lived up to expectations, until the Canon PIXMA MP500. This printer is the easiest to setup and reliable. I can see how someone who isn't careful could break pieces, but, honestly, it's a printer not a football. ...
Given the previously mentioned facts about printer costs vs ink costs, I agree that the Canon MP 500 is an economically satisfactory purchase. It's good money for value. There are many great features to have for the home office. The printing and ...
Pros: All-around good quality printing. Ease of use. Price. Cons: None for me.
I have had this printer now for 6 months and I must say I have been thoroughly pleased with it. When replacing an outdated lexmark I wanted a good, fairly priced AIO that could print photos pretty well but I didn't need a professional office ...
Pros: Printer and ink is of exceptional value. Printer drivers and software a breeze to setup. Cons: The scanner seemed extremely slow in operation.
I did a fair share of research before settling on the MP500. Although I had already made my mind up, a Canon rep at Best Buy closed the deal when demonstrating what was perceived to her as its primary strength in ink cartridge value: the Canon ink ...
Pros: Duplex printing, good color prints, solid. Cons: Possible minor issues with Mac -> USB -> MP550.
I purchased this printer yesterday and set it up in about 30 minutes. I was attracted by the appearance, the fact that it does duplex printing, has high quality prints, LCD viewer for photos, ability to read memory chips, uses less ink than competitive ...
Pros: Clean print and the copy function is convenient. Cons: Black ink cartridge drips and there is no way to clean the mess.
This was my first venture into all-in-one printers. I needed a printer with the print, scan, copy function and purchased the MP500 18 months ago based on reviews at the time. Printing color photos used a lot of ink. I found it easier and cheaper to ...
Pros: Inexpensive inks, impressive features, Canon has a good reputation Cons: Scratches easily, some parts don't appear to be sturdy, ink not at all water resistant.
I'm shopping for a multi function printer. After reading about the Pixma MP500 on the Canon website, I was impressed by the features and went to look at one, fully expecting to make a purchase. I was disappointed in what I saw. I even went to another ...
Pros: Fast printing, great quality, great price with many features Cons: I really can't think of any
The PIXMA MP500 AIO in my opinion outperforms many other more expensive AIO's. After being HP printer users since the PC was invented and literally dozens of HP printers later, we decided to make a change because the latest HP's we've had have been disappointing. We are very happy with this Canon AIO. We love all the features. I don't understand some of the negative reviews we've read because ours has worked flawlessly from day one and we did not have any problems with installation. Photo quality is excellent as is text quality and it is so much faster than our HP printer. Ink prices are much more reasonable, yet another plus. The copier works so well that when I made a color copy it was difficult to distinguish the original from the copy!
Pros: Low cost, high quality, quick print, cheap ink over life. Cons: None I can find
I have owned this MP500 for about a year and a half now and have nothing but good things to say. Was easy to set up and everything is easy to use...and I am pretty much an amateur.
Canon Ink Cart. are a real PAIN for PIXMA MP500 by edinpa ,Jan 29 '07
Pros: Excellent color prints, easy set up Cons: Costly, very selective ink cartridge system. Staples OEM cartridge did not work, lost the money.
I have owned this printer for 4 months. The ONLY Problem has been obtaining ink cart. that will run. Each ink cart. has a chip that insures you must purchase an OEM item at high prices. I purchased what appeared to be the exact, OEM cart at Stapels, they would not run, the printer rejected the cartridges. Then I tried to refill-a real disaster-big mess, ink liaks out, resevour sensors do not work. This printer gives excellent quality color, but Canon has created a major, high cost trap with the ink cartridge chip/sensor system that requires buying OEM Cart. at high prices. Also, I do not get a lot of copies per cartridge.
I would recommend not buying or getting this printer
I am officially unhappy with this printer. by valerieeden ,Jan 24 '08
Pros: It does it's job well at first. Cons: Malfunctions, which prevents usage all together.
I was pretty happy with this machine until I began getting errors messages saying I had two magentas installed or it did not recognize the magenta that I'd put in.
At first I was able to circumvent this by removing and replacing the cartridge, but that no longer remedies the situation. I now have a 173 dollar paperweight.
