Pros: Easy to use, well built and reliable. Cons: Battery life!!
July 2006: I have used an A10 since they first came out and it has been a totally reliable little "Point and Shoot". The amount of zoom is poor by today's standards and it eats batteries ( use rechargables and carry a spare set!! ) but the results are very good for a camera of this type. Ease of use makes it suitable for all ages. Build quality gives it a solid feel in the hand.
Pros: Small, user-friendly, high quality pix Cons: Batteries die too quickly, time between flash pictures sometimes is too long
Last Christmas when hubby asked what I'd like for a gift, I told him to find me a decent digital camera. He's the "techie" of the household so I trusted him to do the homework and research and come up with the right choice. I told him it needed to be user-friendly, not overly expensive, and capable of taking QUALITY pictures. He purchased the Canon PowerShot A10, and I'm very glad he did. Even though it has lots of features and options that I don't even use, it's nice to know they're there if I choose to learn. And if all I want to do is the basic "aim, snap, and view" I'm doing it with a great camera and getting very high-quality photos from it. I use a lot of my pictures as screen savers and computer wallpaper and co-workers are always amazed at the clarity and resolution of my photos. I would highly recommend this as a "first time" digital camera, and even to those who have had others. It will probably do all you want it to, but is still simple enough for the beginner.
Fine snapshot camera, exc. color... by jarnis_dt3000 ,Mar 21 '02
Fine snapshot camera, exc. color and excellent print quality with a good printer up to 5x7's. Take a look at CR's latest dig. camera tests--this is the only 1 megapixel camera that rated "excellent" for print quality. I got mine delivered for less than $200. My only disappointments come from being used to more control over exposure, focus, and focal length--this isn't a replacement for an SLR.
