Pros: Fun, great variety, few parts, easy to clean Cons: On/off switch, need two hands
I really can't say how I first found out about this product (whether it was on TV or seen in the stores or a catalog) so Black & Decker's Marketing Department deserves kudos because I remembered this product and wanted it...BAD.
Pros: Produces good soft serve; easily to operate & clean. Makes low fat taste good. Cons: plan to use twice as much ice cream as you thought
I saw the Black & Decker Arctic Twister at Sears about four years ago and was intrigued. At the time I did not purchase it. After a little research, I decided to give it a try. I purchased it for about $20 on Ebay.I agree with the ...
Pros: It's an economical way to give your family ice cream treats Cons: Hard to store because of the size; noisy
I bought this on a whim and gave it to our family for Christmas this year........We've already gone through two 5 quart pails of ice cream and it isn't the new year yet! I figured for 16.99, if it did what it's supposed to for a year or so, I had gotten ...
Pros: Mixes in some add-ins (emphasis on SOME) Cons: Wastes too much ice cream; a pain to clean
We gave this to our kids (ages 9 and 11) for Christmas. Several components to assemble (actual twist part, handle that pushes the ice cream down, lever) and then disassemble didn't help clean up go smoothly. You need to soften the ice cream before...
A fun machine at a kid's birthday party by iowamike ,Jan 18 '04
Pros: Used less ice cream. Easy to clean in the dishwasher Cons: The switch was a little awkward.
This was fun. Each person got to build their own concoction. It added air to the ice cream so we actually used less than if we had just scooped it out.
We mixed in candies, mixed nuts, blueberries, and even walnut halves with no problems.
The last batch pushed out almost all of the ice cream and we put the parts in the dishwasher, so it was easy to clean.
Pros: None Cons: Slow, difficult, wasteful, no special results
This machine is a waste of money and space. Takes A LOT of ice cream and time to get one serving. At least 3 minutes of squeezing for one serving- which is long time when you're pumping a handle. Doesn't change the ice cream in any significant way. Difficult to clean. Only yielded 3 servings from about 2 pints.
what a waste this product is by lovemygirls2 ,Jul 05 '04
Pros: mixes the mix-ins great, the build of the machine seems sturdy, nothing else Cons: not worth your time, ice cream melts fast, makes soupy soft serve!
rinsing it out
I was wanting to buy this when it first came out, the idea was great! but I didn't want to pay the $69 for it. The other day, I found it clearanced for $11, so i bought it.
I'm glad I only paid that much for it, because it's not worth any more! The darn thing makes the ice cream all soupy, and it's a hassle to keep running to the freezer to get the ice cream out. Also it's a hassle to rinse it out after each use. I'd return it, but the store I bought it at, has a horrible return policy.(won't mention their name)
Pros: FUN, Easy & versatile. Can even eat healthy & enjoy this product! Cons: small capacity, have to re-load often
Just got this machine and we love it! Thanks for all the good advice & tips from other reviewers on this website, because it worked like a charm. And it's SO much cheaper than buying DQ Blizzards or McD's McFlurrys (not to mention the price of gas for driving there to get them!)
This product is not worth the money by timon_12 ,Apr 24 '07
Pros: It is returnable. Cons: The machine itself. Wastes lots of ice cream. It melts on it's way out.
Do not buy this product. It is one of the worst product I've seen in years. I am returning the Twister today. I tried it and not only is the button hard to operate but you put in two scoops of Ice cream and activate the machine, if your lucky you will get one scoop out of it. Don't try putting in smarties or anything like that it will only jam the unit even more.
Pros: It does look like fun, and if you like messes it is. Cons: It's messy, it's slow, it's expensive
We got the arctic twister for a gift, and it promises more than it delivers. Basicly it makes a mess of the ice cream, and takes 2 or 3 minutes to do what you could do with a spoon in 30 seconds. Yes it blends in nuts or chips or anything else, but do you really need a large appliance like that to do such a small thing? It's the equivalent of having a big $60 machine to pour milk on your ceriel.
If you're going to buy a non-essential appliance get a popcorn maker, a waffle iron or something else because this is nothing more than an oversized paper weight.
