Pros: Adjustable user height, two-year warranty, no assembly required Cons: None, this is a quality product
I have always worked with gasoline powered string trimmers, when the cost of gasoline began to rise I looked into purchasing an electric powered model instead. My parents have used Black & Decker products for years; they are reliable and strong enough to ...

This tool works well....Batteries don't last
by faithful2 ,Jul 12 '08
Pros: The Grasshog is designed for light tasks and works is a pleasure to operate. Cons: Both battery packs #244760 are losing their ability to hold a charge.
I purchased the Grasshog 8 months ago and used it on 7 occasions. For the first few occasions the tool worked as expected and the auto line feed was a welcome sight. However, both Battery Packs #2440760 that were provided are beginning to fail. This tool works well only when fully charged. At present, neither pack will accept a full charge. One pack is down to a single LED on the charger. The other is also showing signs of failure. The cost of replacement batteries virtually exceeds the cost of the tool. Since I have lost faith in Black and Decker's ability to provide a decent battery, I am forced to rely on an OEM (other equipment manufacturer) provider for battery replacements. This need for substitute batteries has raised the overall cost of the Grasshog significantly.

Pros: low noise, starts & stops easily, auto feed string, no gas or oil Cons: not as powerful as the gas powered ones but still gets the job done.
I bought this after having a john deere gas trimmer first then an gas echo string trimmer after the first was stolen. This trimmer has been so easy to use and with two batteries I can easily do front and back yards. It is so nice having automatic string feed on this trimmer after having the kind that you have to bump on the ground and having trouble with the trimmer line binding with the other two. Granted there is less power in the black and decker but there is also a lot less noise (no ear plugs needed). Its also safe to use around pets as it stops and restarts very quickly. I've only had mine through 1 summer so far but it has been so easy to use that I use it twice as often as I used my other two.
