Good Bargain, Good Location,

by kushnir , Jul 12 '07
Pros: Proximity to Times Square
Cons: Smallish Rooms
On our way to London we decided to break up the trip both coming and going since we live in California and didn’t want a full day of air travel. Last time we stayed on Central Park east, so this time we found this place which is two blocks from Times ...

NYC The Belvedere Hotel Trip Report

by golf_hawaii , Aug 11 '05
Pros: Good customer service, clean rooms, great location, good value!
Cons: Problem with electric outlet/blowdryer
I stayed at the Belvedere from August 3 - 5 and found it to meet my high expectations (after reading all of the wonderful reviews on this site)! Our party of four consisted of 3 forty-something friends and my 15 year old daughter (one of the girls). Upon ...

Definitely worth it

by wordsmithy , Apr 12 '02
Pros: Near to Times Square, not overly expensive, clean and quiet
Cons: Parking a couple blocks away
I recently stayed at the Belvedere (in early April 2002). I had been looking for a hotel that would be close to mid-town Manhattan without being horribly expensive. I didn't require a lot of amenities, but was pleasantly surprised by what was offered....

Belvedere Hotel, NYC

by amymbarber , May 26 '02
Pros: Affordable, Convenient, NICE STAFF
Cons: The word "Cons" does not apply!
I stayed at the Belvedere last week! I booked the room through Turbo Trip. It was $145.00 per night. I was traveling with three other people, who wanted to share a room. With four people in one room, most hotels add an extra person charge after the first...

Best NYC Hotel Experience Yet

by smistry , Oct 28 '03
Pros: Location convenient to shopping, eating, subway Rooms clean and spacious Relatively reasonable price for NYC
Cons: None in my experience
I stayed at the Belvedere in Oct. 2003 and was very pleasantly surprised by the accommodations. My previous experiences staying in NYC had left me feeling that I could only ever expect to stay in sub-par conditions for under $200/night. However, I had r ...

Great place to stay, perfect location, great deal

by advnetopt , Jul 30 '08
Pros: Location, price, service, rooms
Cons: None
I don't know why this hotel is so inexpensive? I was a bit nervous at first because of how cheap it was. Ultimately the rooms are underpriced for the location, service, and quality. The front desk staff was very welcoming and the staff I had seen ...

Good Find!
by obxlocal ,Apr 27 '05
Pros: Newly renovated, clean, convenient location, affordable!
Cons: A hold on our card for possible LD calls and didn't tell us.
Two of us stayed there from Saturday, 11/27/04 through 11/30/04 (Thanksgiving weekend). Both check-in and check-out were fast. Staff was courteous, efficient, helpful. Room was a decent size, especially compared to what I've heard of other hotels along the same caliber... equipped with (2) full-size beds, a kitchenette area including a mini fridge, microwave, sink, cabinets, and countertop. Bathroom was on the smaller side, but clean. Huge mirrored closet with safe (which was free to use, unlike some places you go). Location is great. Overall, a very good experience and we definitely plan on staying there again.

Book it for your next stay in New York
by mulligan93 ,May 08 '04
Pros: Good location for exploring New York; good service; very good value; clean
Cons: A little noisy, depending upon room location
Amenities include a refrigerator and microwave, which would cut costs for the budget traveler. Rooms are not air-conditioned, but window air-conditioners are available upon request. Staff very helpful. Beds were firm.

Hotel cafe provides extensive American or Continental breakfasts (including smoked salmon) for $15, but you're only a couple of blocks away from the Olympic Diner (recommended), which serves good, plentiful food at budget prices, including breakfast twenty-fours a day.

You're near bus and subway stops, but there is much within walking distance. You're two blocks from Restaurant Row. Check out the prix fixe meals. More familiar restaurants, such as Applebee's, excuse me, the World's Largest Applebee's, are also near. Fast food abounds. John's Pizzaria, though expensive for pizza, does serve excellent thin-crust pizza from wood-fired ovens, but you can also get slices from less famous sources.

Fifth Avenue is only three blocks away; Rockefeller Center and Saint Patrick's are close by.

9/23-24/04 Visit
by ky247 ,Oct 26 '04
Pros: Excellent value, attentive staff, close to the theater district
Cons: Nothing worth worrying about
NYC 9/23-9/24

We flew into La Guardia Thursday, 9/23/04 and went right to our hotel, The Belvedere, at 48th and 8th, and was just as advertised on Travelocity and is highly recommended. It's not the Ritz but at an average of $200/night its the best buy out there. The staff was excellent, well trained for all us ignorant tourists and very knowledgeable. Asked for a room on one of the lower floors after reading a review about how slow the elevators were. The review was correct so staying on the third floor made it an easy walk down the stairs rather than wait for the elevator.

Friday, 9/24, we had breakfast in the hotel restaurant and had the buffet which was pricey at $15.00 each. We then got directions for the subway from a bell man and headed up 48th to 7th and caught the subway to Battery Park.

The stay at the Belvedere was comfortable with a very safe and relaxed feeling. We highly recommend this nice affordable property.

Very disappointing experience
by slsj ,Feb 07 '04
Pros: Clean room, location close to theater
Cons: Noise and inability of staff to control unruly guests.
Because of the reviews on this site, I was expecting a pleasant experience. We stayed for two nights, and were unable to sleep either night between midnight and 4 a.m. because of the noise and fighting in the hallway outside our room. The front desk staff were very polite, but did little to help. (Seemed to be buddies with these long-term "guests.") Groups of people wandered the hallway, talking loudly, swearing, locking each other out, banging on the door because of being locked out, etc - this would stop for short periods of time and then begin again. At check-out we were given a $25 credit per night due to the problem, but I would have much preferred some sleep. The only time I felt unsafe in New York City was in my hotel room!

Great hotel
by mdm123 ,Apr 23 '05
Pros: Classy, clean and convenient. Fairly priced and a really good value for NYC.
Cons: Sometimes it's hard to book a room for multiple nights due to limited availability.
I've stayed at the Belvedere at least 4-5 times and always feel like this is the place to stay in NYC. Clean, fairly spacious for NYC and it's in a very convenient location. Lot's of marble in the the lobby and bathrooms to make you feel like this is a classy hotel.
When I come with my wife, this is the hotel that she wants to stay at. There's a nice bakery just south on 9th Ave from 48th that has great cookies which we always bring home boxes of for friends and family.
Staff is very nice and helpful. The doorman and bellman really make you feel right at home.
