Pros: Cheap price, nice quality maxi-jet pump. Cons: difficult to tune, inefficient, hard to clean.
I had a small party at my apartment and one of my co-workers was hooked the moment he saw my 55 gallon SW tank. I could tell he was very enthusiastic and I tried to steer him in the right direction for equipment, I told him to buy a ...
Pros: An easy to use, quite skimmer Cons: Horribly inefficient and not suitable for use in any but the smallest aquariums
This is a poor skimmer when compared to other models out there. It is hard to clean and does a poor job of removing proteins from the water column. When compared to a Turboflotor 750 or a CPR Bak Pak this skimmer just doesn’t work. While either of the...
Pros: Simple, Relatively small, cool looking! (love that little "cyclone") very inexpensive. Cons: INEFFICIENT!!! ...nothing else.
From the title of this review, you might believe that I feel negatively about the SeaClone. Nothing could be further from the truth... however, I do have a few gripes about this protein skimmer.
A protein Skimmer is a filter that removes dissolved organic substances and wastes from water. They are used for pools, municipal waste treatment facilities and home aquariums. There are several methods of accomplishing this goal: counter current,...
Pros: Quiet, Easy to clean, very effective Cons: expensive
Having been a manager of a pet store for three years, (I am no longer) I have had the opportunity to use MANY different protein skimmers. Not only using them, but I have also talked to a variety of people that have tried out just about every skimmer on...
Pros: Great performer at first, good foam production Cons: Needs constant adjustment
I've been keeping Marine aquariums for more than 6 years now, and I've used Many different skimmers, from counter current airstone driven to Powerhead Venturi driven. The Seaclone skimmer when you first have it works Fantastically.
Pros: East set up, ability to use as a sump or hang on . Price! Cons: A bioload that the average 100 gallon tank could handle I wouldn't use it.
My wife and I purchased this skimmer about 6 weeks ago. Setup was very simple , we are useing it in a sump. Adjusting took about 2 days. The unit seems to do best with the air turned almost wide open. We are getting a 3/4 cup of skimmate every 5-6 ...
Pros: Easy to install, very powerfull efficient skimmer. Cons: None other then having to empty the collection cup every couple of days.
This is a great skimmer. All the negatives I am reading are not true!!! I installed mine in my 10 gallon sump and it is pulling plenty of stuff out of my water. Creates yellowish colored foam, that then turns to a liqued form a very ...
Sea Clone 100 Protein Skimmer by seadoofree98 ,Nov 13 '06
Pros: Cheap, durably made, power head good, lightweight, very easy to clean Cons: Doesn't work right, no support from Marineland, no foam in the collection cup. Terrible!
I have two Sea Clone 100 Protein Skimmers in my 75 gallon Saltwater Reef tank and I have no luck with it working. I have seen some debris in the collection cup, but no FOAM. I have called Marineland four (4) times and no one has called me back. A terrible product and it should be removed from the market. I would rather spend money on one that works, not one that says it will work. VERY DISAPPOINTED!
Pros: Easy to put together and inexpensive. Works well once set up. Cons: It took tweeking to get it set up optimally for skimming my tank.
The setup was easy but it took a couple days of testing to get the venture air supply working properly. Once it did get going, however, it has worked well. Every week or so I empty the holder cup of a dark green skimmate. It took time to set uo but it works nicely on my 120 gallon reef tank. I recommend you turn it off while doing a water change and not turn it back on until your water level is back to normal. I have a top off device on my filter to take that aspect out of the equation.
Another piece of sea junk by captainsmooth ,Dec 03 '09
Pros: Maxi-jet 1200 power head Cons: Doesn't work just adds micro bubbles to your tank. Its junk.
It is worthless don't waste your money. The only good thing that comes with it is a maxi-jet 1200 power head. But you can buy that for 30$ with out the garbage seaclone. It never works right, It puts out more micro bubbles then I have ever seen any skimmer output. STAY AWAY SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!!
Pros: This protein skimmer is easy to setup, quite, and cleans the tank so well. Cons: Takes a little fussing with to get it right, but nothing outrageous.
First, I can't believe how bad this product was reviewed. Maybe the older ones were no good (the last review was posted in 2005) but mine, that I bought in 2007, works like a champ. Also, in these reviews it has the listing price at $70... I wish, at ever pet store I went to the cheapest for this product was $105.
I have had it for two years and NOTHING has gone wrong. I will admit it took a couple cranks to get the adjustments right, but nothing near the problems some people were having. I've never had a leak, never needed any new parts, and honestly thought cleaning it was a breeze. If you have a huge setup or are an extreme hobbits then this probably isn't the product for you. But, if you need a protein skimmer that is reliable and will clean up your fish poo, then this product is great.
