Pros: Cheap. Gromets on corners. Folds neatly. Cons: Heavy comparied to more modern materials. Not as durable as coated nylon.
Most heat is NOT lost by of radiation, but rather conduction and convection. This item does not provide any insulation, or extremely little. It is water proof and wind proof. I am 176 lbs and 5'-9" and I find it a bit short or small around (depending on orientation) to wrap up in. I have had mine for a few years and it now has many very small pin holes if you hold it up to the light. It weighs 14 ounces, so it isn't extremely light. For survival coated nylon or silnylon would be lighter and, in my opiinion, just as good at stopping rain and wind. I have carried it as a survival item while climbing, but later changed to a nylon bivy bag because it offered a better enclosure and was lighter. For the price it is worth experimenting with if you are not critical about weight. It is much better than those cheap thin space blankets that rattle and fly around in the wind.
