| lmnop1's Full Review: NutriSystem Weight Loss Program |
I had reached my limit when I could no longer fit into my clothes and needed to buy the next size up, not really sure what that is since I was squeezing myself into an 18, which was obviously not the correct size to begin with. I would have much rather become a hermit, walking around my house naked all day long, all alone, than go shopping to purchase a LARGER size. The thought of it made me terrified. That was the point in my life when I realized that I really needed help. I could not attempt to lose weight without some sort of direction and guidance. I had no interest in WW because I was so ashamed of myself, the last thing I wanted to do was show my face in a public meeting gushing about how fat I am and how hard its been for me to try to lose this weight. I was intrigued by NS because what I needed was structure! NS provides portion control, as well as nutritional education, which I feel is lacking from WW. WW basically teaches you to add points in a day and fails to teach what is nutritionally important. You get so many points in a day, and if you really wanted to you could eat pizza and ice cream as long as it fit into your point limit. NS stresses the importance of nutrition. NS teaches you about what your body needs nutritionally...this many calories, this much protein, fiber, carbs, etc... at this time of the day. It teaches you how to PLAN your meals and not to starve yourself until dinner. Its a very organized plan and has made the hugest difference in my life. Sure, the food is not gourmet. You're really not paying for the quality of the food, you are paying for the educational value of the food and the program itself. There are enough good items on the menu that are enjoyable. There are some items that I loved and some I threw away because they were inedible--its all about personal taste. You just have to be patient in finding what your taste is. Its really frustrating to hear people say that after day 3, they gave up on the program because the food was awful. Those people just ordered the wrong items for their taste. Sorry, this ain't McDonalds. And when you are overweight, you also tend to have a taste for unhealthy foods such as fats and sugars, which is not what you get from NS. People who gave up on the program are just that: failures. They are obviously in the position that they are because they give up on everything and resort back to their poor lifestyle choices. The program is very healthy. I have never felt better in my life. The greatest thing about the program is that you don't HAVE to order their food, but they will still give you support and help you follow the program without ordering. I stopped ordering the food after 3 months because I wanted to transition myself into the 'real world'. I have had continued to succuess because I have learned portion control and proper nutritional education that I had never really learned and feel that others programs don't offer. I don't want to have to count my food all day! Come on now! NS breaks everything down for you into elementary thinking so that any idiot can follow the program and still feel successful. I have lost 60 pounds in eight months and hope to lose another 20. I fully support NS and wouldn't give another thought about any other program. Give it a try. I really hope it works as well for you as it did for me! :~)
