Epcot is my favorite theme park at Disneyworld. There is something incredibly awesome about being able to take your children to a park for some fun, and have them get an education along the way. At Epcot, our favorite section is the World Showcase. The children are fascinated with being able to "visit" other countries and cultures.
All of the country exhibits featured in the World Showcase are created in the impeccable style only Disney can achieve. They are all authentic to the smallest detail, interesting, informative and imposing. Although different, each has its own special appeal. Some, however, stand out as truly remarkable. One of those is the American Adventure.
From the outside, the American Adventure is truly magnificent. It is a completely authentic colonial-style mansion, which speaks "America" loud and clear. The gardens around it are beautiful, and planted in a patriotic red, white and blue motif. There is also a rose garden, filled only with rose varieties which have been named for American Presidents. The outside area of the American Adventure also includes an amphitheater, the American Gardens Theater, which has live entertainment each day. You will also find the Spirit of America, a fife and drum corps, performing most days.
Once inside, the exhibits are truly a patriotic experience. The walls contain motivational quotes from Americans of note such as Wendell Wilkee, Jane Addams and Charles Lindberg. Walking through to the rotunda, you can hear the a cappella group The Voices of Liberty, singing a 15 minute medley of traditional American songs. Next is the main event, American Adventure show. This audio-animatronic show is perhaps the best one that Disney has to offer. Hosted by Ben Franklin and Mark Twain, this half-hour of wonderful entertainment uses animated figures, film and video clips, and a symphonic soundtrack to present an inspiration history lesson about the concepts that made America the great nation that it is. I dare you to see this and leave without a big lump in your throat, and a heart bursting with patriotic pride.
While waiting in line to see the show, look above and see a display of the history of the American flag.
The American Adventure has a counter-service type restaurant which serves hot dogs, hamburger, and of course, apple pie. There is also a cute Americana gift shop.
The American Adventure is Disney at its best. Its a must see while at Epcot.
