I am an intermediate snowboarder, and I enjoyed Bretton Woods Montain Resort very much.
First, the rental boards and boots were high quality for rentals. The strap-in style boots are great and give you good control. The K2 boards were nice and they were in good shape. I was very pleased with the rental equipment and process.
The lines for the quads were what you would expect on a popular mountain. They weren't much of a pain at all. The lifts service two peaks, and soon to service another peak, "Mt Stickney" in 2001-2003.
Once you get off the quads is when you start to enjoy the mountain. It is a beautiful mountain with a great New Hampshire view from the summit. The trails are mostly blues and that was perfect for my ability.
I arrived a little late to the mountain, so I decided to go ahead and try the night pass. I was extremely happy with my decision. Allthough only one lift is in service after 4:30, the trails are unbelievable at night and groomed to perfection. The night pass is for 2-9 P.M. Despite not getting much snow the weak before, the conditions on the mountain were excellent. There are a lot of trails to choose from, and there was no problem with overcrowded trails even on a Saturday afternoon.
The trails are very fun, and there is a great variety to choose from during the day. One of my favorite trails was the Two Miles Home trail (a blue) that wraps around the left side of the mountain. The whole Mt. Rosebrook area is mainly for intermediate skiing, and the West Mountain area is for the more advanced skiing with several glades.
In terms of lodging, there is a great Hotel if you are looking for a luxurious stay, as well as many surrounding Inns. The Base Lodge is of good size with a restaurant and ample room for sitting. Overall, Bretton Woods was a very fun mountain for snowboarding, and snowboarding on the night trails was a great thrill. The conditions are great, and nothing beats the groomed trails.
