| mkomos's Full Review: Breckenridge |
Last year around January 3rd was the first trip I made out to Colorado. It was amazing and i would highly recommend it to anyone who goes skiing. I stayed at Keystone and skied there, Breckenridge, and A-Basin. By far, Breckenridge was my favorite resort.
The skiing there, however, is not for the tame of heart. I would say that a beginner would have a difficult time skiing there, as there are many blue and black diamond runs. When we got there in the morning, there was a foot of fresh powder, which made for an enjoyable day. There are three peaks-Peaks 8, 9, and 10-which provide some challenging and enjoyable skiing. They are somewhat steeper runs and some had really good mogul fields.
One thing that I really liked for Apres ski was the town of Breckenridge itself. The only bad thing was that you had to take a bus down into the town, but it was worth it. The town reminded me of a typical Colorado resort town. The streets were narrow and lined with shops and plenty of skiers. There were also some good watering holes to quench your thirst after a long day of the slopes. Also, I would suggest staying at Breckenridge itself because taking the bus from Breckenridge back to Keystone was a 2 hour hassle. I'm not sure of the prices as far as lodging goes, but packages can usually be pretty reasonable. I also went with a bunch of college buddies through a student travel organization, so your company for the trip is also important. This year I'm off to Crested Butte, so I'll let you know how that goes when i get back!
