Pros: Wonderful atmosphere, great ski and board schools, cheap booze
Cons: Long airport transfer (3 and a half hours!)
The Bottom Line: Go there before everyone realises how good it is!

| fluffybeanie's Full Review: Soldeu El Tarter |
I went to Soldeu with my husband and two friends. Three of us in the group were complete beginners, my husband and I chose the snowboard school, the other two at the ski school. I can honestly say that the snowboard school was excellent. They catered for all abilities, and the group sizes seemed perfect. It was extremely good value too. There is a board school party where you can win your own board in a raffle - I was lucky enough to win! I can't comment too much on the ski school, but my friends both said that it was fantastic. There are no language barrier issues, all the instructors I met (from both schools) were from English speaking countries.
Soldeu is quite a small resort but the atmosphere is great. It is really relaxed and everyone is dead friendly. Nightlife is good, there are loads of different bars. I would recomend Fat Alberts, especially as they serve Leffe!
We stayed in the Hotel Bruxelles. Very basic, but the staff were so friendly, spoke great English and helped in any way they could. The hotel was very good value for money, it has a reputation for serving some of the nicest food in the resort. The only down side was that it was right opposite one of the busiest bars, but most of the time we were so tired it didn't bother us that much!
Soldeu is a great place to learn to ski or board, I can't really say how good it is for those more advanced. All I can say is that we enjoyed it so much we booked to go back this year the week after we got home, and if I could afford it I would definitely go twice in a year.
