| mkosak's Full Review: Birch Aquarium at Scripps |
Housed at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography in San Diego, California is the Birch Aquarium. Both locals and visitors should be certain to take the time to visit this very affordable and interesting place.
My kids have been going to Birch Aquarium since it opened in 1992. My oldest son's first visit to the aquarium was at the age of 4. Today, at age 13, he still looks forward to visiting the aquarium. His brothers are just as enthusiastic about going.
Many of the local school children in San Diego visit the aquarium with their classes or with one of the various local daycamps. In fact, the Boys & Girls Club's summer field trip to Birch is the fastest filled each year.
The aquarium has several hands-on exhibits kids enjoy. Adults and children alike marvel while viewing the vast number of fascinating sea life found at the aquarium. Tours of the aquarium are available and souvenirs and/or educational material about Scripps and Birch can be purchased at the gift shop. My kids can't come home without shark teeth!
If you want to learn about the sea life native to the West Coast, I highly recommend the Birch Aquarium to local families and tourists alike!
