I was totally unfamiliar with the Cirque du Soleil performing troop before my trip to Las Vegas. Even with all the great things I heard about them, I thought I was still taking a risk for paying $110 per ticket to a show which was described as a 'human circus.' Do I really want to see this?
I only called about 2 weeks before hand to reserve tickets to 'O' (don't know what it means) and was prepared for all the tickets to already be gone. I was able to get 4 tickets for the late show (10:30) on a Sunday night, my last night there. All of my first preferences for shows were sold out.
'O' is performed at the Bellagio theater, which is located a good distance from the main entrance to the hotel. They recommend getting there well ahead of the scheduled performance for seating, but it is not necessary. Refreshments are outrageously priced, but you have to expect that. The theater is pretty impressive and I could not tell what the best seats would have been. I guess it is all based on preference. My seats were 13 rows up, right next to the main lower level entrance. The view was just fine.
The only knowledge I had of the show was it that it involved water as a tool. I really had know idea what to expect. After leaving the theater, I would say it was one of the best events (I don't know a good word for it) I have ever been to in any capacity. You will be entertained and amazed to the fullest.
I don't want to try to explain what goes on because it wouldn't do it justice. Plus, I can't really explain what I saw in the show. I'll just say that the show started with some 'circus clowns' that work their way through the audience. I thought to myself this is exactly what I don't want to see. But I realized that they perform the specific duty of giving your mind a break and letting it realize what you have just seen. There is also some audience(??) participation. The live music is just amazing. I think the highlight of the show is what they are able to do with fire. That is all I really want to say.
The show lasts a little over an hour & a 1/2, but it feels like it only lasts 10 minutes because your eyes will be totally focused on the stage at every moment.
I can usually come up with a complaint about anything, but I couldn't for 'O'. If there was ever anything that was worth every cent, this was it. This will definitely be your highlight of your trip to Vegas.
