Mexico is a very nice place to visit. However there are many things that you should know before you step foot into that plane or boat to go there. You need to know what to pack, what to do in advance, and how to travel. While there is a big country of Mexico, there are only a few "hot spots" that are bigger then others. That is not always good either.
Packing
First off you need to know what to pack. Before you go you should learn some about Mexico. Maybe learn some Spanish, learn about the country's history, and geography. When you pack bring clothes for all kinds of weather. It is hot during the days, very hot, and at night it gets very cold. You do not want to be caught in a short sleeve shirt and shorts when it is 40 degrees. It isn't comfortable. Trust me! Next make sure you bring a lot of spending money. Preferably in very small bills, like ones. This is because if you plan to bargain with the vendors don't ask for a lower price and pay with a big bill. They might just keep it. There is also not much you can do. The whole time I was there, I did not see any form of police. Oh, and definitely watch for pick-pocketers. You don't want to lose all your money.
Traveling Options
There are a couple different ways you can travel to Mexico. You can go by boat, plane or even car. I would not recommend the car but what ever floats your boat. When I visited Mexico it was on a cruise ship. This was good except we had to go through customs every time we got off the ship. It was just a pain.
Culture
An added advantage you could have on this trip is if you learn about their culture and language. Learn about the Mayans, Aztecs and Incas. Even go to the pyramids and structures built by them. If you know the language it will be much easier communicating with the locals. Even though most of them know English, well at least in the high tourist parts.
Places
If you visit Mexico, there are a couple of sites you have to see. They are almost required. The first one is the ocean. This magnificent clear-blue mass is a wonder to the eyes. It is the best for snorkeling. Try it, if you haven't! You will see so much sea life. It is amazing. Next you have to check out the Mayan's pyramids. These huge structures were constructed many years ago and hold the key to ancient civilizations.
Well no matter how, when, or why you go to Mexico, go there. It will be well worth the trip. You will meet many interesting people and definitely have the ball of a lifetime. I am still living up the memories of my trip. It also is great to look at all my pictures I took! Take some yourself!
Oh yeah, Don't drink the water!!!!
